Abstract

A suspended rotary storage apparatus comprising a central shaft D fixed to a mounting bracket C, and a chassis A and utensil support assembly B mounted on and rotatable about the shaft D with utensil supports F suspended from the apparatus.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1> SUSPENDED ROTARY STORAGE APPARATUS This invention relates to a suspended rotary apparatus suitable for the easy storage and quick retrieval of domestic and industrial utensils, as well as any other item that may benefit from an easy storage solution.
One problem with contemporary storage solutions such as cupboards and drawers is the tendency for them to be used to store many different things. When the time comes to retrieve a specific item, the 'item' is often obscured from sight by the other objects being stored, and subsequently the 'item' has to be searched for, causing time to be wasted.
If work surfaces are used as a storage solution, inevitably the amount of available precious work surface is reduced.
In many situations the available wall and floor surface areas limit the maximum number of storage solutions such as cupboards and shelving It is accordingly an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus suitable for use as a storage solution, which overcomes or at least mitigates one or more of the problems noted above.
According to the present invention there is provided a suspended rotary storage apparatus including a central shaft fixed to a mounting bracket, a chassis and utensil support assembly mounted on and rotatable about the shaft, and utensil supports suspended from the apparatus.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which- - Figure I shows in perspective, the suspended rotary storage apparatus, as viewed from above, with its component parts in situ. Included in figure I is an example of a stored item N [not to scale].
Figure 2 shows component part B. Figure 3 shows component part A.
Figure 4 shows a close-up of a section of component part A, with specific details of design features G and H.
Figure 5 shows component parts C and D. Figure 6 shows component parts J and K.
Figure 7 shows in perspective, the suspended rotary storage apparatus, as viewed from below, with its component parts in situ.
Embodiments of the present invention are described below by way of example only. These examples represent the best way of putting the invention in to practice that are
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
currently known by me, although they are not the only way in which this can be achieved.
Referring to the drawings, the suspended rotary storage apparatus comprises the main chassis A on which the utensil support assembly B sits. The utensil support assembly B slots in to design feature G and H, which hold B firmly -in position. Although design feature G and H are used in this example, any known method of fixing materials together, including methods such as welding, screws, rivets or glue could be used to fix parts A and B together. The advantage of using design feature G and H is that it allows Parts A and B to be easily dismantled for reasons such as cleaning.
Utensil hangers F are placed around the utensil support assembly B so as to allow the attachment of items to be stored. The items to be stored are hung from the utensil hangers. Utensil hangers F as shown in the drawings are detachable and not fixed in place, so as to allow them to be positioned where the items being stored dictate. If required, the hangers F could be fixed in position by any method that gives the required results, The main chassis A rotates about shaft D by means of bearing E. Bearing E is fixed to main chassis A by any commonly used method.
Plate J and end nut K support parts A, B and F on shaft D. End nut K tightens up on thread L at the end of shaft D. Any other means of securing plate J on to shaft D, such as circlips or split pins would be appropriate as long as the method used could support the weight of the invention and its load.
Shaft D is suspended and secured to any suitable surface such as a ceiling, by bracket C. Shaft D is secured to bracket C by thread M, or secured by any appropriate method such as welding.
Bearing E is fixed in such a way to shaft D, as to give main chassis A and utensil support assembly B, horizontal and vertical stability, no matter what the weight distribution as dictated by the placement of the stored utensils.
Plate J and end nut K can be of any aesthetic design, as long as they fulfil the original design requirements.
Shaft D may be shrouded in the optional decorative sheath 1.
The invention can be manufactured from any or a combination of any suitable material possessing sufficient strength and rigidity to fulfil the inventions requirements, Metal, afloys, plastics and wood are examples of such material.
