Abstract

A free floating audio water alarm device actuates a warning siren 3 when water is disturbed. The device is principally designed for the safety of children when a pool is left unattended. Movement of one or more hinged armatures 5, which in turn activates electronics, triggers the alarm. The main device is battery operated, and has an aerial 4. Optional extras could be anchor weight 12, remote receiver, or deactivation time switch.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1> AUDIO WATER ALARM DESCRIPTION A FREE FLOATING WATER DEVICE THAT WILL EMIT AND TRANSMIT (TO PORTABLE RECEIVER) WARNING SIREN, WHEN THE SURFACE LEVEL OF WATER IS DISTURBED.
THE SIREN WOULD ALERT ADULTS TO POTENTIAL DANGER CHILDRENJANIMALS FALLING INTO OR PLAYING WITH WATER INTENDED TO AVOID TRAGIC DROWNING ACCIDENT & THE'SIREN'WOULD EMIT FROM THE WATER DEVICE AND AN OPTIONAL PORTABLE RECEIVER.
THE DEVICE FLOATS INDEPENDENT WITHIN ANY SHAPE WATER CONTAINER. E.G. PONDS, PADDLING POOLS, FAMILY POOLS AND BATHS ETC. THE DEVICE REQUIRES NO FIXTURE TO WATER VESSEL.
THEREFORE THE DESIGN OR MATERIAL OF WATER CONTAINER IS OF NO CONSEQUENCE. E.G. POOLS ARE AVAILABLE IN NUMEROUS SIZES AND DESIGNS. FROM SOLID CONSTRUCTIONS TO INFLATABLES THE DEVICE CAN ALSO BE USED INSIDE THE HOME (BATHS, ECT).
THE RECEIVER ALLOWS FOR ADDED SECURITY. IT CAN BE BATTERY OPERATED OR ELECTRICAL LEAD AND PLUG. GIVING ADDED SECURITY.
THE MAIN INTENTION FOR THIS DEVICE IS DOMESTIC USE. 9111RAWINGS FIGURE 1. SHOWS THE PROFILE OF DEVICE, FEATURING OPERATING SWITCH, BATTERY TESTING SWITCH, ANCHOR ROPE AND FLOATS.

THE MAIN BODY OF THE DEVICE COMPRISES OF A WATER TIGHT VESSEL (1), WHICH CONTAINS AN ELECTRONIC SOUND ALARM, SPEAKER AND TRANSMITTER (13). THE ELECTRONICS'ARE POWERED BY BATTERYIS.
A PORTION OF THE BODY SITS ABOVE THE WATER LEVEL (2). THE SPEAKER (3) IS SITUATED AT THE TOP OF THE MAIN BODY. THE TRANSMITTER ARIEL (4) ALSO LOCATED HERE. ARMATURE/S (5) ARE HINGED (6) TO THE MAIN BODY. MOVEMENT OF THE HINGE TRIGGERS THE ALARM DEVICE. EMITTING A WARNING SIREN THROUGH THE SPEAKER OF THE WATER DEVICE. ALSO SENDING A SIGNAL TO A PORTABLE RECEIVER.
HINGES WHICH ATTACH ARMATURE TO MAIN BODY ALLOW RESTRICTIVE MOVEMENT. THIS ENSURES THE DEVICE DOES NOT COLLAPSE, AND WILL ALWAYS REMAIN BUOYED.
THE OPERATING SWITCH (7) AND A BATTERY TESTING BUTTON (8) ARE SITUATED ON THE MAIN BODY SECTION, WHICH FLOATS ABOVE WATER LEVEL THE DEVICE IS KEPT BUOYANT VIA FLOATS (9) ATTACHED TO EACH ARMATURE. THE BODY IS SUPPORTED VIA CENTRAL FLOAT (10) AROUND THE OUTER CASING.
AN OPTIONAL ELEMENT WOULD BE A ANCHOR ROPE (11) AND WEIGHT (12) TO RESTRICT MOVEMENT OF DEVICE IS LARGER WATER CONTAINERS, PONDS, POOLS ETC.

AN ANCHOR ROPE CAN BE ATTACHED AT THE BASE (18). THE BATTERIES AND A WEIGHTED BASE (19) ENSURES MAIN BODY IS KEPT UPRIGHT.
MODIFICATIONS TO THIS DESIGN WOULD BE; I . DESIGN/SHAPE OF MAIN BODY TO CHANGED TO ALLOW FOR BUOYANCY WITHOUT FLOATS. AND OR REARRANGEMENT OF CHAMBERS WITHIN MAIN BODY.
2. ALARM TRlGGER MAY BE ONE OR MORE MOVING 'ARMATURES'.
3. MODIFICATIONS I + 2 PLUS SIZE MAY VARY, ALLOWING FOR INTENDED USE. E.G. A SMALL PADDLING POOL VERSES A LARGE POOUPOND.
4. ALARM TRIGGER OF WATER DEVICE MAY BE MERCURY TILT SWITCHES WITHIN ARMATUREIBODY CONNECTION.
S. A GROUPING OF WATER DEVICES MAY BE USED TO COVER LARGE WATER AREAS.
6. TRANSMITTER COULD CONNECT WITH HOUSE HOLD ALARM SYSTEM.
