Abstract
A writing implement having pen piece (fig 3), a hollow tube (fig 4), a pen cap (fig 2) and an end piece (fig 5). The hollow tube (fig 4) contains game pieces (fig 6) and a ball; the pocket clip may be detached from the end piece and unfolded to form a goal (fig 8). The pieces may be used as a table top football or other game with pieces flicked to knock a ball towards and into a goal. Each game piece is freestanding and consists of a figurine mounted on a plinth, listing various attributes that can be ranked against other pieces for gaming purposes (fig 7). The length of the pen may be varied according to the number of pieces attached together.

GAME PEN The Description This invention relates to a pen which serves as a writing instrument as well as a multi-piece game.
Pens normally serve a single purpose - as a writing instrument. An objective of this invention is to provide a pen which can also be divided into several pieces and used as a game.
The front section comprises the writing device - be it a pen, pencil or similar. The shaft of the pen consists of several pieces that can be detached. Each piece is freestanding and consists of either a figurine mounted on a plinth or a hollow tube.
Conforming to a uniform standard specification, each piece can be interchanged with pieces from other pens of the same design, and the length of the pen can be varied according to the number of pieces attached together.
The figurines will consist of either well-known characters - such as footballers or toy characters (to be produced under licence from the licence owners), or may instead consist of original characters.
The plinth lists various attributes of the associated figurine which can be ranked against other pieces for gaming purposes.
The detachable pocket clip of the pen may also form part of the game. For example, it may unfold to form a freestanding goal.
Preferably each piece is made of plastic but may instead be made from other materials. A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Drawing 1 FIGURE 1 shows in perspective the whole assembled pen. FIGURE 2 illustrates the pen cap which screws onto Figure 3. FIGURE 3 illustrates the interchangeable writing implement piece.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
FIGURE 4 shows a hollow tube which may be opaque or transparent and the top of which push clips on to both Figure 3 or Figure 6. Figure 4 also slips over and screws onto Figure 6. FIGURE 5 represents the end section of the pen which provides a compartment a ball and detachable pocket clip and push clips onto Figure 6.
FIGURE 6 shows a game piece comprising figurine and plinth which screws onto Figure 4. FIGURE 7 is a view of the base of a game piece and illustrates four different ranked attributes of the associated figurine.
FIGURE 8 shows the partially unfolded pocket clip which forms a freestanding goal post. As shown in Drawing 1 and Figure 1, in addition to its function as a writing implement, the assembled pen also comprises a number of game pieces, a ball and goal post.
As shown in Figures 2 to 8, the pen comprises several pieces which can be separated to fulfil its dual function as a game.
Figure 3 comprises the interchangeable writing implement, which may take the form of a pen, pencil or any number of other writing devices.
Figure 4 is a transparent or opaque hollow tube which attaches to the piece above by means of a push clip and attaches to the piece below by means of a screw thread.
The end piece as shown in Figure 5 provides a storage compartment for a ball and anchorage for the pocket clip. The pocket clip unscrews from the end piece and unfolds to form a freestanding goal post, as illustrated in Figure 8.
Figures 6 and 7 represent game piece comprising a figurine mounted on a plinth. Each figurine will be different and modelled on a real-life footballer or other sports personality or character. Each game piece can be flicked and skidded across a smooth surface with the purpose of remaining upright. The base of the plinth as illustrated in Figure 7 lists various attributes of the associated figurine by which they may be ranked such as: caps, goals, yellow cards and transfer value. A screw thread and push clip enables Figure 4 to be attached to the top and bottom of Figure 6.
When assembled, the pen performs its role as a writing implement. When taken apart, the pen serves as a tabletop football game with the freestanding pieces flicked towards the ball and on to the opponent's goal. An alternative game is for the quantified attributes of each game piece to be ranked against those of other pieces.

Drawing 2 illustrates the same Figures as Drawing 1 but provides greater clarity as to hove the pieces join together.
