Abstract
A post base has a fitting B to receive a gravel board. Tightening of bolts (at A) holds the fence post in place, a metal stake D is driven into the ground, and aligned holes E may receive a bar which can be used to adjust the orientation of the post base about pivot C. Fig 6 (not shown) shows a base for a mid-fence post, with two means B to receive a gravel board each side of the post.
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Post Fix This invention relates to a post fix.
When putting up a garden fence concrete posts are used to keep the fence panels in place. The concrete posts have grooves running down each side and the fence panels are slotted in.
Fence panels inevitable rot and eventually have to be replaced. This means that new fence panels have to be fitted. In order to do this the fence panels have to be lifted six feet, by two people, so they are above the posts and can be slid down into the grooves on the concrete posts. This can be difficult and dangerous to do because it often involves balancing on stepladders in order to the line the fence panel and fit it correctly.
The invention is described by way of example with reference to the following drawings:- Figure I shows front view of post fix: Figure 2 shows the post fix cup; Figure 3 illustrates the wooden posts and concrete gravel board; Figure 4 illustrates how post fix is fixed into the ground; and Figure 5 shows side view of post fix.
Figure 6 shows Middle post.
With reference to the drawings, the post fix is a metal steak which is placed in the ground to support a 100mm square wooden post. (Fig. 1) It has bolts at the side to secure when in the right place. On the side of the post fix are flanges, which hold the gravel board. (Fig.2) In the flanges there are holes for fixing to gravel (be it wood or concrete).
A hole in the post fix can be used for a bar to turn the post fix if not straight (Fig.2). Once the post fix is bolted and the gravel board is fixed (Fig 4) you then place the panel into size and the panel on top the gravel board will not rot as easily.
The middle post (figure 6) is different to the end posts as shown in figures I to 5 but has all the same dimensions.
This does away with concrete posts and encourages people to use gravel boards, which is better for the environment. It also eliminates the need to lift the fence panel above the posts and the need to dig down into the ground to fix the post into place.
