Abstract

236,497. Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Ostline, J. E. April 1, 1924. Drawings to Specification. Automatic exchange systems.-A register sender exerts a different control according to the path over which it is taken into use. In the system described, register-controllers cf the code-translating type are divided into classes adapted to be selected in accordance with the first digit dialled, each class being multipled to a particular level of the register-controller selectors. The last choice register-controllers of the different classes are multipled to another level, two of the leads to the bank contacts being reversed, so that when a register-controller is seized over this level, a polarized relay in the register-controller responds and causes it to route the call to an operator's position. According to a further feature, the pause between successive series of impulses transmitted by a register-controller may be made dependent upon the reception in certain circumstances of a distinctive current indicating that the appropriate connecting switch is ready to receive the next series of impulses. When a hunting switch interposed between two numerical switches is taken into use, the current over the talking wires is reversed and a polarized relay in the register-controller pulls up and prevents the transmission of the next impulse series until a numerical switch is seized and the current restored to its original direction. The same polarized relay in the register-controller is utilized in carrying out both features of the invention. The register-controller is so arranged that by a simple manual switching operation it may be converted for use in a system employing either two or three digits for the exchange name. The system described is identical with part of the network described in Specification 233,007 which claims other features. Specifications 200,484 and 233,643 also are referred to.
