Abstract

A plastics funnel has a body formed with concertina-like folds 4 whereby it is collapsible. The upper rim includes finger grips 3. The nozzle 2 is of relatively wide size and includes a mechanism 1 for gripping a filler hole.

This new type funnel is specifically aimed at the car industry market sector ( car accessories). The funnel is ideal for pouring or topping up engine oil or water coolant without the troubles of spilling.

The difference from your old conventional funnel is that it is designed with a nozzle that is wider, which will allow for faster pouring of liquids such as oil. The nossle also has an integrated gripping mechanism that allows for better stability when pouring (see fig. 2). Another feature is the funnel concertina like design that allows for it to compress to a compact size when not in use, to allow for easy storage (as illustrated in figs. l .a and L b). The top of the funnel is also ergonomicaly designed for easy gripping that allows for easy extending of the funnel from compressed position.

Further the funnel will also be available in a variety of coloured transparent plastics and sizes. Fig 1 a shows the funnel in closed compress position.

As show in figure 1 a the funnel is in the closed/compressed position. The funnel comprises of a gripping mechanism 1 that enables the nozzle to grip to a filler hole, once in positioned it is ready to use. The gripping mechanism I provides greater stability when placed in a filler hole, allowing for cleaner and more efficient use, for when pouring liquids.

The finger grips 3 are ergonomically positioned on top of funnel as shown in figure la, 1b, 2 and 3. Finger grips 3 are equally spaced out in 3 places on top of funnel to allow for easier extension of funnel from closed/compressed position.

Fig 1 a, 1 b, 2, and 3 show the wider nozzle design, with the objective of faster pouring of liquids into filler hole.

As in fig I b and fig 2, the funnel is stretched to its maximum opening position via its concertina design 4.

Claims (1)

1. CLAIMS A funnel with a concertina like design enabling it to be compressed to a compact size when not in use. The funnel comprises of three finger grips, which are placed on top of funnel; a wider nozzle placed at the end of the funnel and a filler hole gripping mechanism, which is part of the nozzle. A funnel with a concertina like design as claimed in claim 1 with three ergonomically positioned finger grips on top part of funnel allowing for easier extension of funnel from compressed/closed position. A funnel with a concertina like design as claimed in claim 1 or 2 comprises of a wider nozzle enabling faster pouring of liquids. A funnel with a concertina like design as claimed in claim 1, 2, or claim 3 comprises of a filler hole gripping mechanism on the nozzle, which provide greater stability. A funnel with a concertina like design as claimed in any preceding claim will be moulded of various coloured transparent plastics.
