Abstract

A drinks container closure comprises an outer cap and a nozzle 2 attached to the interior of the cap and having a through passage 12, the nozzle being movable from a retracted to an extended position as shown, and the passage 12 containing a normally closed valve which is openable by biting or squeezing the nozzle. As described the nozzle is attached to the inside of the cap by a domed member 8 in which the nozzle is seated when in its retracted position. In use the cap is attached to a drinks container, and the top of the cap is closed by a perforated seal having a plug engaging with the outer end of the passage 12. When the container is squeezed to force the nozzle into the extended position the seal is ruptured without becoming detached from the cap.

Description

2364527 Page I DRINKS BITE NOZZLE At outdoor events, nightclubs and adult
events, many drinks are consumed and their containers discarded. At present the main materials used to contain drinks are glass, aluminium and steel, which can become dangerous when discarded. Many sealable bottled drinks caps are available, including pop-up caps and screw caps. These can be opened and re-sealed but, when open, the drink inside the container can spill out through the opening in the cap. In most instances there is a separate part used to seal the container, (eg. screw cap or peel-off cap) and these parts, when separated, cause two or three pieces of debris when discarded.
This invention relates to a drinks cap that dispenses drink only when bitten or squeezed. It has a tamper-proof seal for transportation, cannot be spilt and remains as one unit, with no separate disposable pieces, when discarded.
The objects of this invention are to provide a cap for drinks that, once opened, cannot be spilt and, when discarded, create minimal litter.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with references to the accompanying drawings in which: - Fig I Shows a plan view of the cap in a closed position and illustrates the perforated seal.
Fig 2 Shows a cut-away section of the cap in pre-opened situe.
Fig 3 Illustrates the fully assembled cap and nozzle in a fully opened position. Open perforated cap 3 is not shown.
Fig 4 Shows a cut-away section of the cap in the open position and illustrates the inverted dome 8, bond 13 and perforated seal 4. Open perforated cap 3 is not shown.
A pinch valve 9 is incorporated in the central delivery tubel 2. The tamper-proof cap 3 is perforated 4 and hinged, and stays as a one-piece unit in order to reduce debris and assist in the clearing up of litter.
A bung I I and perforated seal 4 ensure no foreign entities can contaminate the liquid 14, providing safe transportation of the contained drink.
A drinks container 7 can be heat sealed, glued or screwed to the interior of the cap I locating at band 15.
The outer cap I is to be manufactured using high density plastic by a suitable processing technique.
Page 2 The nozzle 2, dome 8, valve 9 and band 13 are a single manufactured piece and are to be made of food grade PVC or like flexible material.
The valve 9 closes when under pressure from the drinks container 7 and is opened when the nozzle 2 is squeezed or bitten. The valve 9, when open, provides communication between the interior of the drinks container and the ambient atmosphere.
The attached drinks container 7 is to be manufactured using a flexible non-porous, non-toxic plastic material, or other material who's properties match any predefined specificotion made by this invention or by any other bodies regarding the contact with a liquid for human consumption.
In order to open the cap 1, pressure is to be applied in direction 5. The cap 3 will then be pushed out when pressure is applied in direction 6.
When pressure in direction 6 is asserted to the under side of the cap 1 by the liquid I A in container 7, either by means of pressurising container 7 or by way of manually squeezing container 7 the domed part of the nozzle 8 will invert itself hinging on flexible band 13 exposing the nozzle 2 above the top level 16 of cap 1.

Claims (6)

  1. I A drinks bite nozzle comprising of an outer cap 1, in which a nozzle is attached at band 13 by reasonable means to the interior of the cap at the mid point.
  2. 2 A drinks bite nozzle as claimed in Claim I I wherein when nozzle 2 is bitten valve 9 opens to allow communication between the interior of the drinks container 7 and the ambient atmosphere.
  3. 3 A drinks bite nozzle as claimed in Claim I or Claim 2, wherein liquid is not able to communicate with the ambient atmosphere when the nozzle 2 is not being bitten or squeezed.
  4. 4 A drinks bite nozzle as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein once opened and used creates no additional pieces of debris
  5. 5 A drinks bite nozzle as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein before opening has a tamper proof seal 4, and that the plug I I seals the central delivery tube 12.
  6. 6 A drinks bite nozzle substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawings.
