Abstract

A carrier for an inhaler attachable to clothing made of a durable waterproof flexible material which holds the inhaler and which is attached to clothing by spring clip means attached to the carrier. The flexile material may form a pocket and the carrier may have a flap protecting the inhaler.

Description

Attachable Inhaler Pump Carrier 2363991 This invention relates to an
attachable inhaler pump carrier.
Inhaler pumps such as those used to alleviate the symptoms of asthma are produced in a form which means to keep it on ones person it is necessary to place the inhaler either in a bag or a pocket or otherwise to carry it in hand The device can therefore be awkward to keep about ones person during many activities and is also prone to loss therefore presenting a danger should symptoms of asthma occur.
Easy access to and knowledge of the whereabouts of the inhaler will in the first instance provide relief of symptoms and in the second can avert the onset of said symptoms as it is known that panic induced by the fear of not having the inhaler pump at hand can precipitate an attack.
The use of an attachable carrier will provide access to and knowledge of the whereabouts of the inhaler during most activities These may include those in the workplace, in the school environment for use by children and especially during sporting activity including swimming and other aerobic activity where attacks may be induced and an inhaler may not be near at hand.
Also medical advice to sports supervisors is that in the event of an individual becoming ill whilst under their supervision unless the individuals medication is about their person it is unadvisable to administer medication to them based on conjecture.
According to the present invention there is provided an inhaler carrier which is attachable to any item of clothing e g belt, trousers, skirt, pocket, bathers, bikini or bag strap It comprises of a durable waterproof flexible material formed into a pocket into which the inhaler may be inserted On the rear or side of the pocket is a sprung clip by way of which the pocket containing the inhaler may be attached to an item of clothing The inhaler fits tightly into the pocket as the material expands to accommodate the size and shape of the inhaler with the tube through which medication is taken protruding through an opening at the bottom of the pocket and the canister contained within the inhaler protruding through a similar opening at the top An additional flap which covers the top opening may be included which hinges at the rear and fixes to the front of the pocket It is opened when in use to allow the free flow of air through the inhaler.
The accompanying drawing provides a visual representation of an example of the invention in which:- Figure 1 shows a side elevation of the invention containing an inhaler.
Figure 2 shows a front elevation of the invention containing an inhaler.
Figure 3 shows a side elevation with additional flap.
Figure 4 shows a front elevation with additional flap and clip mounted on the side.
