Abstract
A window blind is formed from a number of bamboo slats (10), where layers of bamboo fibre grains extend along the longitudinal axis of the slat (10). Slats can be formed by stacking sections of bamboo, so that an inner soft portion of bamboo (a) contacts an outer hard section of bamboo (b) and may include holes for hanging the slats (10) to produce a blind.
Description
2363815 BAMBOO SLAT OF WINDOW SHADE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention rclates gencrally to a window shade slat, and more particularly to a bamboo window shade slat having an appropriate tension and strength.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The conventional bamboo window blind is generally made of a plurality of round bamboo stems which are arranged together horizontally by a plurality of fine cords and can be drawn up together to the top of the window Such conventional bamboo window blind as described above is limited in design in that it can not he made of a plurality of longitudinal slats as shown in FIG 1, or horizontal slats as shown in FIG 2 In light of the lacking of versatility of the conventional bamboo window blind, its marketability is seriously limited.
As showni ir FIG 2, this conventional window shade is made of a plurality of horizontal wooden slats The wooden material is not well adaupltd to be uscd as the window shade slats due to its lack of an appropriate rigidity and flexibility In light of the wooden slats being relatively thick, the conventional window shade is relatively heavy.
SUMMARY OF Tll E INVENTION
It is the primary objective of the present invention to provide a window shade made of bamboo slats which have an excellent tension and rigidity.
It is another objective of the present invention to provide a window shade made of bamboo slats of excellent appearance.
It is still another objective of the present invention to provide a window shade made of a plurality of bamboo slats which can be sized in any way and arranged vertically or horizontally.
In keeping with the principle of the present invention, the foregoing objectives of the present invention are attained by a bamboo slat having a predetermined length, width, and thickness The bamboo slat has fiber grains distributing along the direction of the longitudinal axis of the slat The bamboo fiber grains are formed of the iluler soft portion of one bamboo piece and thc outer hard portion of another bamboo piece, which are stacked together along the short axis.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TIIE DRAWINGS f;IG I shows a perspective view of a vertical window blind of the P'10 " I 1 FIG 2 shows a perspective view of a horizontal window blind of the prior art.
FIG 3 shows a scheimatic process flow of a first prefe rred emibodiment of the present invention.
(FIG 4 shows a schematic perspective view of a bamboo window shade slat of the first preferred embodiment of the present invention.
FIG 5 shows a schematic view of the formation of a bamboo window shade slat of a second preferred embodiment of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF T Il E INVENTION
As shown in FIG 4, a bamboo window shade slat 10 of the present invention has a predetermined Icngth, width, and thickness The bamboo slat I O has three layers of bamboo fiber grains 11, 12, and 13 The slat 10 is provided at both ends with a through hole (not shown in the drawing) for use in arranging the slats as a vertical or horizontal window shade.
As shown in 1 G 1: 3, a round bamboo stem 1 is first sliced along the longitudinal direction of the stem 1 into a plurality of bamboo pieces 2 equal to one another in size Each of the bamboo pieces 2 comprises an inner sofi portion a and an outer hard portion b I-ach bamboo piece 2 has a sectoral cross section Each bamboo piece 2 is thus regarded as a tetragonal bambloo piece unit 3, which is then cooked in a closed vessel containing hydrogen peroxide for a period lasting about two hours, so as to soften the bamboo fiber of the bamboo piece unit 3 As a result, the bamboo piece unit 3 has a grcater toughness The bamboo piece unit 3 is dried by baking before the bamboo piccc unit 3 is processed to become a bamboo plate 4 of a specification The bamboo plate 4 is subsequently provided on both upper side and the underside with an adhesive coating 5 by means of two rollers 30 between which the bamboo plate 4 is passed through A plurality ofthe coated bamboo platcs 4 arc stacked together to form a rectangular bamboo block 6 such that the inner soft portion a of one bamboo plate 4 is stacked on the outer hard portion b' of another bamboo plate 4 ', and that the upper bamboo plate 4 traverses the two lower bamboo plates 4 ' In other words, the bamboo block 6 is formed of a plurality of upper bamboo plates 4 and the lower bamboo plates 4 ' As a result, the bamboo block 6 has a predetermined height hl A plurality of bamboo window shade slats 10 are formed by cutting the bamboo block 6 along the longitudinal direction of the bamboo block 6 such that each slat 10 has a thickness w The slats 10 are polished before they are carbonized, dyed, or painted The slats 10 are finally provided with through holes by means of which the slats 10 can be arranged as a vertical or horizontal bamboo window shade.
As shown in FI Gi 5, a bamboo block 6 ' of the second prefcrred embodimrent of the present invenlion is formed of a plurality of the coated bamboo plates 4 ', which arc slacked together such that the outer hard portion b' of one bamboo plate 4 ' is superimposcd by the inner soft portion a' of another bamboo plate 4 ' The bamboo block 6 ' has a rectangular shape arid a prcdetcrmincd height and width A plurality of bamboo window shade slats 10 ' of a thickness W are formed by cutting the bamboo block 6 ' along the longitudinal direction of the bamboo block 6 '.
In light of the slats 10 and 10 ' of the present invention being formed of thc inner soft portions a and the outer hard portions b of the hamhoo plates 4, the slats 10 and I 10 ' have a considerable flexibility and rigidity In addition, the width h of the slats 10 and 10 ' of the present invention is equivalent to the height of the bamboo blocks 6 and 6 ' 'The blocks 6 and 6 ' can be cut into a plurality of slats 10 and 10 ' of various specifications.
