Abstract

A body exercise equipment which is designed to function also as a piece of furniture or vice versa. A preferred example for the invention is a training bicycle which transforms into an armchair. In the preferred example the elements having a due function include the curved handlebars 1 that become the arms of the chair 11; the bicycle's saddle 2 that be becomes the head support 12 of the chair; and front beams 7 to 10 for the support of the bicycle's handlebars 1 that become the support for the chair's seat 17 to 20. Each of the above elements is rotated between two positions, each serving one of two functions. The complete position of the armchair includes an additional feature of the chair's cushions 21 and 22.

Description

2363736 DUAL-FUNCTIONAL TRAINING EQUIPMENT This invention relates to Body
Training Equipment of the type found in gymnasia and in private homes.
The invention is a design for Body Training Equipment that allows the transformation of the equipment into a piece of furniture.
This concept of the design relates to different types of Body Training Equipment as well as different types of furniture This description is supported by one example: training bicycle, which transforms into an armchair and vice versa.
Body Training Equipment are well known, but suffer from the disadvantage that they are heavy to carry and require large space They are designed to function purely for training and therefore, when not in use, they create the problem of needing storage space or else are seen as a disruption.
An object of this invention is to provide Body Training Equipment with the additional function of domestic furniture In this manner the equipment could be left in a room in the position of furniture at all times and transformed into the position of Body Training Equipment when required.
The essential features of the invention are a transformable design, which requires a simple action for the transformation between the two positions, from Body Training Equipment into furniture and vice versa.
The preferred example for the invention in this description is a training bicycle which transforming into an armchair This example will now be described with references to the accompanying drawing and images in which:
FIGURE 1: shows a top view of the equipment in the position of a training bicycle FIGURE 2: shows a side view of the equipment in the position of a training bicycle FIGURE 3: shows a top view of the equipment in the position of an armchair without cushions FIGURE 4: shows a side view of the equipment in the position of an armchair without cushions FIGURE 5: shows a top view of the equipment in the complete position of an armchair with cushions FIGURE 6: shows a side view of the equipment in the complete position of an armchair with cushions FIGURES 7 to 14: showing the sequence of transformation from an armchair to training bicycle (could be read both ways, also from bottom to top i e from training bicycle to an armchair).
Listed in Figures 1 and 2, are the essential elements necessary to describe the training bicycle: curved bicycle's handle bar 1; adjustable bicycle's saddle 2; bicycle's pedals 3; training bicycle's dram 4 (standard dram including belt and adjustable compression device); a floor stand 5, central beam 6 which acts as an axle hinge to enable a rotational movement for the adjustable front beams 7 & 8 and its support beams 9 & 10.
The overall process of transformation requires a sequence of simple actions where several elements are being rotated between two positions (each position serving one of the two functions): the curved handle bar 1 (Figures 1 and 2) is seen in Figures 3 and 4 after it has been rotated to act as the arms of the chair 11 The bicycle's saddle 2, is rotated to act as the head support of the chair 12.
Finally, the bicycle's pedals 3 are rotated to be in a horizontal position 13 to enable instalment of the chair's cushions 21 & 22 The complete position of the armchair, with the two cushions 21 & 22 in place is shown in Figures 5 and 6.
Figures 7 to 14 are showing the inverse sequence of transformation, from an armchair to training bicycle where the complete position of the armchair is shown again in Figures 7 and 8.
The following Figures 9 & 10 show the armchair after the first step of transformation removal of the armchair's cushions 21 & 22 and rotation of the armchair's head-support 12 which becomes the bicycle's saddle 2.
Figures 11 & 12 show an interim stage of four, dual-functional beams: the chair's seat support ( 17, 18, 19 and 20) becoming to act as the bicycle's handle bar support ( 7, 8, 9 and 10) when in the position of the training bicycle.
The complete position of the bicycle is shown in Figures 13 and 14.

Claims (3)

1 Any type of Body Training Equipment which is designed to function also as a piece of furniture or vice versa, a furniture which is designed to function also as a Body Training Equipment.
2 A Body Training Equipment as claimed in Claim 1 where the design is either transformable, where each position serves one of the two functions, or a permanent design serving both functions.
3 A Body Training Equipment as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2, applicable to any type of Body Training Equipment and any type of furniture.
