Abstract

The wall mounted adjustable basin assembly for standard wash hand basins has a rear back panel 20 and a front plate 21 the front plate being adjustable relative to the rear panel, thus allowing the basin, which is bracketed to the front plate, to be adjusted in height to specific requirements. Flexible water connections (8) are fitted to the hot and cold taps and a telescopic waste system (9) is also provided to allow vertical adjustment to take place, there is also a gas strut fitted (10) to assist the up and down movement of the front plate.

Description

2363326 Z'.
Wall Mounted Adjustable Basin Assembly This invention relates to a height adjustable wash hand basin unit.
Wash hand basins and accessories are normally held directly to the wall using brackets at a fixed height to suit individual requirements, with the water supplies and wastes also at fixed positions. Any subsequent, revised requirements virtually necessitate a complete removal and re- fixing of the basin, accessories and associated pipework also making good of the wall finishes.
According to the present invention, an adjustable powder coated front plate assisted by a gas strut and fittings which are provided which allow wash hand basins to be adjusted along with the integrated shelf, beaker, zn toothbrush and towel holders, ensuring normal toiletries are within easy reach of the consumer to a height to suit the consumer's requirements without necessitating the removal, re-fixing or disconnecting of the original installation. The front plate being designed to allow a suitable vertical sliding movement assisted by a gas strut to locate the basin in any position within the limits of 0 nun to 150 mm. The rear panel is designed to conceal the gas strut, telescopic waste and flexible tap connectors.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure I Shows the powder coated adjustable front plate fixed to the rear panel.
Figure 2 Shows the rear of the laminated back panel with the hot and cold water supplies, telescopic waste, flexible connectors and gas strut all concealed -ithin the panel space.
Figure 3 Shows the assembly in a side elevation showing basin, shelf, towel holders and telescopic waste.
Figure 4 Shows the powder coated front plate, which fixes to the laminated back panel with a front and top view showing the integrated shelf, toothbrush and towel holders.
Figure 5 Shows a view of the front of the laminated back panel.
Figure 6 Shows a view of the rear of the laminated back panel.
I Refernng, to the drawings, the total assembly comprises of a powder coated front plate figure (4) a laminated rear panel figure (5) is fixed to the wall using angle brackets and appropriate fixings. The front plate which incorporates a shelf, beaker, toothbrush and towel holders, is fixed to the rear panel, when the required height has been achieved, by threaded star nuts which are compressed into the rear panel, passing through the slotted holes in the front plate and fixed into position by using stainless steel set pins, nuts and washers.
Standard basin brackets or purpose made brackets to suit the holes, in the front plate are bolted to the front plate by means of the stainless steel set pins, nuts and washers.
The hot and cold water supply pipes are fixed to the relevant taps on the basin by using flexible hose connections (8). The telescopic waste (9) and trap system (11) is manufactured using solvent welded waste pipe and fittings, with an '0' ring seal reducer. The top portion of the waste pipe is allowed to move in a vertical direction through the reducer with '0' ring seal thus allowing the basin to be adjusted in height but also providing a water-proof seal within the ring seal reducer.
Initially the wash hand basin would be assembled and fixed at a given height with the hot and cold water pipes connected to the taps and the telescopic waste system connected. To alter the height of the basin, the nuts (4) are slackened which allows the fTont plate assisted by a gas strut to slide in a vertical direction until the required position has been achieved. This obviously reduces the amount of work necessary to alter the height of wash hand basins to suit various requirements and especially the need of the disabled, etc.

Claims (14)

  1. Claims
A height adjustable basin assembly comprising a basin bracket fixed to a front plate, adjustably mounted on a laminated back panel securable to a wall, the adjustment being provided by a gas 1:) strut and star nuts compressed into the back panel with set pins passing through the back panel and through slotted vertical holes in the front plate and lockable in position by nuts to allow vertical adjustment of the basin assembly.
    2. A height adjustable basin as claimed in claim 1. Where a telescopic waste system is provided to accornmodate vertical movement of the basin assisted by a gas strut and flexible water pipe connections are also provided to the hot and cold taps to accommodate the same vertical movement of the basin.
    3. Adjustable basin assembly as described herein with reference to figures 1-6 on the accompanying drawings.
I-- 4 Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS A basin assembly arranged to allow height adjustment, the assembly comprising a basin secured to a plate adjustable in use in a substantially perpendicular direction relative to a wall, the plate being coupled to one end of a strut whilst the other end of the strut is fixed in use relative to the wall whereby the strut facilitates adjustment of the plate position and the plate includes fixing means to retain an adjusted position of the basin secured on the plate relative to the wall.
  2. 2. An assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein the strut is a gas strut.
  3. 3. An assembly as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the assembly includes a back panel secured in use to the wall and relative to which the plate moves when subject to adjustment.
  4. 4. An assembly as claimed in claim 3 wherein the plate and the back panel respectively include complementary slots through which the fixing means act to retain an adjusted position.
  5. 5. An assembly as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the fixing means comprises nuts and pins or bolts -secured in the assembly.
