Abstract

A picture frame includes a plurality of corner joints 2 and frame rods 3 combined together. Each corner joint is L-shaped and has two sides each provided with a hollow passageway 20 to receive adjustably an end of two frame rods 3 to adjust the size of the picture frame. Each frame rod 3 has a plurality of elongate grooves 31 on an upper surface aligned with screw holes 21, so that a picture frame may be easily constructed. Each corner joint preferably has a flat support member 22 and an elongate recess 23 extending from the support member, so that the glass of the picture frame may be placed on the support members of the corner joints and frame rods.

Description

2362824 ,OMBINING STRUCTURE FORA PICTURE FRAM This invention relates to a
combining structure of a picture fr'6me, particularly to one having four L-shaped joints at four corners and four frame rods combined together.
Each L-shaped joint has a hollow passageway M two sides and plural screw holes in two upper end surfaces. Each frame rod has two ends fitfimg in two passageways of each comer joint to be screwed with the comer joint tightly. Then -the frame rods can have its length adjustable for a certain length to change the size of a picture frame foT- some degree.
A first known conventional- picture frame shown in Fig. 1 includes a frame rod 10 having two ends cut to have 45" slope so as to connect with the ends of another frame rod, and the 450 slope has to be correct, or two frame rods may not be. connected correctly, not convenient to work with.
Then a second known convention picture frame shown in Fig. 2 has been made by some maker, including four comer joints 11 and four frame rods 12. Each corner joint I I is L-shaped, having a hollow interior 110 in two sides and a support member 111 formed in an inner side of each end. Further, each corner joint I I and each frame rod 12 have corresponding screw holes (not shown in Fig. 2) in a bottom wall and aligned to one another for screws to screw tightly the both 11 and 12. Although it gets rid of the difficulty of 45" end slope of the frame rod, the support member I I I of the corner joint I I is higher than the support member 120 of the frame rod 12, and a glass A of the frame is supported only by the support members 111 of the four corner joints 11, liable to be broken during transportation. In addition, the screw holes of the frame joints 11 and of the frame rods have to be aligned, but aligning 'is not easy owing to material 1 cutting, increasing trouble in assembling. Moreover, the material cannot be adjusted in the size to change a little a picture frame.
This invention has a main objective to offer a combining structure for a picture frame easily adjustable in the size a little, avoiding waste of material, and easy to assemble.
Another objective of the invention is to offer a combining structure for a picture frame, securing a glass on support members of comer joints an d of frame rods stabilized not to easily broken even in case of shook or vibration.
The feature of the invention Js L-shaped comer joints formed integral and having hollow interior to form a passageway in two sides for two ends of each frame rods to fit therein. The frame rod has more than one straight grooves formed on an upper surface to face screw holes bored in an upper wall of the comer joint.
The present invention will now be described fizffier by way of example only with.reference to th.e accompanying drawings, wherein: - Figure 1 -is a partial perspective view of a first known conventional picture frame; Figure 2 is a partial perspective view of a second known conventional picture frame; Figure 3 is a partial exploded perspective view of a combining structure for a picture frame in the present invention; Figure.4 is a partial perspective view of the combining structure for a picture frame. in the present invention; 2 Figure 5 is a cross-sectional view of a corner joint combined with a frame rod in the present invention., and, Figure 6 is a partial perspective view of the corner joint combined with the frame rod in another way in the present invention.
A preferred embodiment of a combining structure for a picture frame in the present invention, as shown in Fig. 3, includes four corner joints 2 of an L shape, and four frame rods 3 asTain components combined together.
Each corner joint 2 is hollow to form a passageway 20 respectively in two sides, and plural screw holes bored in an upper wall of the two sides, having a support member 22. formed in a bottom of an inner corner and a stop edge 220 formed respectively at two sides of the support member 22. The outside surfaces of the passageways 20 have scales P for rapidly adjusting the required length of the frame rods 3 when assembling. Further, an elongate recess 23 is respectively formed to extend from the two stop edges 220 of the support member 22.
Each frame rod 3 has two ends fitted in the passageways 20 of each corner joint 2, and an elongate flat narrow support member 30 formed to extend inward from a lower end of an inner side and flush with the support member 22 of each corner joint 2. Furth6r, each frame rod 3 has more than one elongate V-shaped grooves 31 formed on an upper surface located to face the screw holes 21 of the corner joint 2.
In assembling and using the combining structure for a picture frarne, as shown in Figs. 3 - 5, each frame rod 3 is inserted in the passageways 20 of two neighboring corner joints 2, with.the support member 30 aligned to and exposed out of the support member 22 of the corner'joint 2, and with the support member 23 fitting with the elongate flat support member 30 3 closely., Further, the length of the four frame rods 3 are adjustable for a -certain. distance according to the size of a picture frame needed, permitting an inner end surface of the frame rod 3 contact or not contact the stop edge 220 of the comer joint 2, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6. Then screws N are screwed in the screw holes 21, with the lower tips of the screws N extending in the elongate grooves 30 to secure the comer joint 2 with the two frame rods 3, as shown in Fig. 5. After the frame -rods 3 are secured, the comer joint 2 are combined closely, with the flat surface of the support member 30 being flush with the support member 22 of the corner joint 2 to form a continual flat surface. Therefore, a glass can be completely placed on the continual flat surface closely, preventing the glass from broken during transportation or by pressing, reducing combining cost. At the same time, material is used effectively.
Further,. as shown in Fig. 6, the frame rods 2 can be adjusted to fit in the. passageway of the corner joints 2, to meet the size of 4 picture frame. a user needs. For example, the frame rcds can be lengthened for 5 cm, so if the length of frame rods are 10 cm, one side of the picture frame can be 15 cm. And one -side of the picture frame can be lengthened to 20 cm in case of the frame rod being 15 cm, and so on. So the size of a picture frame can be adjusted in a certain length, not limited by the screw holes havingto be aligned as in the known conventional picture frame. Thus the drawbacks, such as -difficulty in bonng screw holes or limitation of the length of the material, of the known conventional picture frames are improved.
Thus this invention has the following advantages, as can be understoodfrom the aforesaid description.
I. It can save material, reducing assembling cost, and facilitating assembly.
4 2. A glass can be positioned completely flat on the corner joints and the frame rods, not causing break of the glass during transportation or by pressing.
3. The screw holes of the comer. joint are located just on the elongate grooves of the frame rods so that the frame rods may be adjusted in its length for -a certain distance to change the size of a picture frame needed, easy and convenient for assembly.
4. A user can make a picture frame by using the invention by selecting the proper size of material.
While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein, and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
