Abstract

A support for a neon tube (eg in a display) has a threaded stem 12 received in a threaded bore 14 of a body 16, whereby its height can be adjusted. The top of the stem has a head 13 to which a neon tube is tied with wire and the body is a push fit, by means of protrusion 18 below the base 17, into a pre-drilled hole in support surface 19. The body can be held in place by glue or a rivet passed from under the surface into the bore 14.

Description

1 2362561 NEON TME SUWr
[Technical Field]
This invention relates to a neon tube support.
[Background] Neon tube supports are known in the industry to provide support for neon tubes. They are expected to be compact and less visible as possible when they are among the artwork of neon displays, and is best that they provide the ability for height adjustments to level-out any unevenness which may be found with the glass after being bent to shapes by the sign makers. Tube supports should also be easily mounted in order to bring down manufacturing time and cost.
There are tube supports which are mounted by means of bolts and nuts. When threading with one hand at the front of a large work surface and the other at the back, the job becomes very tedious and time consuming if not sometimes impossible. When the finished work is hung up, there are numerous nuts sticking out at the back of the panel.
There are tube supports which are riveted or screwed down from the front, they usually have a broad base or body to accommodate the rivets or screws. The large body, broad base and screw heads are visibly unsightly among the neon display.
[Example] [asential According to the present invention there is provided a neon tube support technical comprising a body and a threaded stem with tube support head. The body is feature] secured without screw and the like, by means of pushing and jamming the bit under the base of the body into the predrilled work surface, usually is an acrylic panel, with or without acrylic cement round the base, thus prevent the unsightly view of screw heads on the front or untidy nuts scattered all over the back of the sign panel which would otherwise make periodic cleaning difficult. The provision of the said bit and its fixing arrangement eliminated the need for a broad base or large body. For predrilled metal panel, the same bit will hold the body in place in order that the user, hand free to snap a rivet through the back ffixing the body.
The support head, where the neon tube is tied with wire, with the stem threaded through the channel in the body where one single complete ring of thread was fixed moulded into the channel wall allowing the tube support to be height adjusted.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 shows in perspective, in clear transparency of acrylic material, the body secured with the bit firmly in place with the work surface, the threaded stem with support head in position with the single ring thread in the channel wall.
Figure 2 illustrates plans, front elevation the separation of the stem from the body with single ring thread fixed moulded in the channel wall (rear elevation correspond).
Figure 3 shows the neon tube support in life size.
Referring to the drawing the neon tube support comprises a body 16 and threaded stem 12 with tube support head 13.
In order to mount and secure the body 16, the bit 18 under the base 17 is inserted and jammed into the predrWed acrylic panel 19 as shown in Fig. 1. The support head 13, where the neon tube is tied and secured, with the threaded stem 12 is pushed and threaded into the channel 14 where a single ring of thread 15 allows the height be adjusted accordingly.
In order to mount and fix the body onto a metal work surface, not shown on the drawing, a rivet is snapped through the back of the metal panel into the channel of the body, while the bit under the base held its place in the predrWed hole.
1 3 CI^8 1 A neon tube support comprises a body and a threaded stem with support head. The body is secured without screw and the like, by means of pushing and jamming the bit under the base of the body into the predrilled work surface, usually is an acrylic panel, with or without acrylic cement round the base, thus prevent the unsightly view of screw heads on the front or untidy nuts scattered all over the back of the sign panel which would otherwise make periodic cleaning difficult. The provision of the said bit and its fixing arrangements eliminated the need for broad base or large body. For predrilled metal panel, the same bit will hold the body in place in order that the user, hand free to snap a rivet through the back fixing the body.
