Abstract
A telephone dual splitter socket comprises a male plug 1, a socket body 2, connection terminals 3 and a retainer plate 4. The socket body has an opening with two receptacles 21 in it. The connection terminals form the contacts of both the plug and the two sockets. They have a prong 31 to form the plug contacts, and the retainer plate 4 on the side of the plug goes behind this to hold the terminals in position.
Description
2360879 Telephone Dual Splitter Socket Structure
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1) FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention herein relates to a telephone dual splitter socket structure design, specifically referring to a dual splitter socket structure design of simplified assembly comprised of a male plug disposed at the front end of a socket body and in which the said male plug is in electrical continuity with two receptacles in the rear end of the socket body via a plurality of connection terinffials, an arrangement that not only facilitates assembly operations, but also simplifies the componentry requirements and thereby reduces production costs.
2) DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG 2, a conventional telephone dual splitter socket is comprised of a male plug 10, a housing 20, a circuit board 30, two sockets 40, and a face plate 50; the male plug 10 is situated on one side of the housing 20 and, furthermore, connection channels are formed on the side of the male plug 10 into which are placed connection terminals 101; each of the said connection terminals 101 has a wire 102 attached to the trailing end that is inserted through the rear surface of the housing 20 and bonded to the circuit board 30, and the connection terminals 401 embedded in the two sockets 40 are bonded to the circuit board 30; thus integrated, the two sockets 40 and the circuit board 30 are installed into the housing 40, with the face plate 50 then covered over the rear surface of the housing 20 to complete the assembly of a dual splitter socket. However, the structure of the said telephone dual splitter socket involves numerous components and a lengthy assembly procedure to produce, with the assembly having a high degree of difficulty that is overly complex, thereby increasing production cost; furthermore, since the housing 40 and the circuit board 30 occupy a relatively large amount of space, the conventional assembled telephone dual splitter socket is of larger physical dimensions, which adversely affects portability, product packaging, and utilization.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The primary objective of the invention herein is to provide a telephone dual splitter socket structure design comprised of a male plug, a socket body, a plurality of connection terminals, and a retainer plate; the socket body has an opening formed in the front end and two receptacles vertically arrayed in the interior section; the lower base of the male plug is covered onto the opening of the socket body and, furthermore, the connection terminals embedded in the said male plug are in a state of direct electrical continuity with the two sockets in the socket body.
with the retainer plate clipped onto one side of the male plug to hold the connection terminals in position; given such a structure, the physical dimensions of the dual splitter socket of the invention herein is effectively reduced and its component assembly is simplified, resulting in easier overall assembly operations.
Another objective of the invention herein is to provide a telephone dual splitter socket structure design in which each of the said connection terminals have two attached leads fashioned to form a flexural interface at the contact area of the socket body by fabricating a curve in the attached leads such that when a telephone plug is situated flush against a pair of attached leads, the resulting optimized elastically loaded contact enables highly stable signal transmission without intermittent noise.
The improved features and other functions of the present invention are further elaborated in the brief description of the drawings below which are followed by the detailed description of the invention herein.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 is an exploded drawing of a conventional telephone dual splitter socket.
Figure 2 is an isometric drawing of a conventional telephone dual splitter socket.
Figure 3 is an isometric drawing of the telephone dual splitter socket of the invention herein.
Figure 4 is an exploded drawing of the invention herein.
Figure 5 is a cross-sectional drawing of the invention herein.
Figure 6 is an isometric drawing of the connection terminal of the invention herein.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring to FIG. 3, FIG. 4, and FIG. 5, the telephone dual splitter socket structure design of the invention herein is comprised of a male plug 1, a socket body 2, a plurality of connection terminals 3, and a retainer plate 4, wherein:
The male plug 1 is a standard modular telecommunications plug consisting of a one-piece lower base 11 formed at the side of the bottom end and guide slots 12 containing recessed sections 13 formed at the rear end, with the guide slots 12 extending into the interior of the lower base,l 1.
The socket body 2 has an opening formed in the front end, with two receptacles 21 installed in a vertical array inside the opening and, furthermore, pilot grooves 22 aligned with the guide slots 12 are formed along a side wall of the receptacles 2 1.
The connection terminals 3, as indicated in FIG. 6, are long strips each having a prong 31 projecting upward slightly from the front end and a vertically elongated section 32 formed at the rear end, with attached leads 33 of an appropriate length extending outward from the upper and lower ends of each vertically elongated section 32; furthermore, a flexural interface is present between the said attached leads 33 of the vertically elongated sections 32 in that the said attached leads 33 are fabricated in the shape of a curve.
The retainer plate 4 is aligned with the recess sections 13 of the male plug 1 and a latch tab 41 is formed at the front and rear ends of both sides such that engagement into the recessed sections 13 allows for positioning and, furthermore, ribs 42 disposed in the same direction as the guide slots 12 are formed along the bottom end of the retainer plate 4.
In the utilization of the said structural components, the prongs 31 of the connection terminals 3 are inserted into each of the guide slots 12 along the bottom end of the male plug 1 such that the attached leads 33 are exposed at the lower base 11, the lower base 11 is topped over the openings at the two ends of the socket body 2, the trailing ends of the connection terminals 3 embedded in the male plug 1 are extended into the two receptacles 21 within the interior section of the socket body 2, the retainer plate 4 is covered onto the recess sections 13 of the male plug 1 and the ribs 42 press against the connection terminals 3 to maintain them in position; as such, the physical dimensions of the dual splitter socket of the invention herein is effectively reduced and its component assembly is simplified, making overall assembly operations easier.
Furthermore, due to the flexural interface between pairs of attached leads 33 at the trailing ends of the said connection terminals 3 effected by their curved arrangement, when a telephone plug is situated flush against two attached leads 33, the present mivention provides optimized elastically loaded contact that enables highly stable signal transmission without intermittent noise.
In summation of the foregoing section, since the invention herein is capable of achieving the claimed objectives of a telephone dual splitter socket structure and, furthermore, the overall means has never been previously utilized, therefore, the present invention is reasonably original and lawfully submitted in application for review and the granting of the commensurate patent rights.
