Abstract

A skateboard comprises a pivoted brake panel 1, and a brake handle 76 at the front of the skateboard and connected to the brake panel by means of a steel cable 71. In its rest position, the brake panel is biassed by spring 32 away from the rear wheel. The brake panel can be moved into frictional engagement with a rear wheel 5 of the skateboard by pulling on the handle and/or by pressing the brake panel with the foot.

Description

2360823 TITLE: A SKATING BOARD WITH FRONT & REAR BRAKES BACKGROUND OF THE
INVENTION
(a) Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a skating board provided with a front and a rear brakes, and more particularly, to one with braking mechanism applied on the rear wheel either by pulling the front brake or by stepping on the rear brake.
(b) Description of the Prior Art:
The prior art of the present invention generally available in the market is essentially comprised of two wheels respectively pivoted to the front and the rear of the stay, and a board is provided between both wheels beneath the stay for the user to have one of his feet standing upon the board and with another foot to push against the ground to advance for a certain distance before having both feet on the board and riding on for fun and sports by taking advantage of the inertia until the board is about to stopping; then the user simply has one foot to push forward the board again the ground again. However, the initial design of the skating board permits only straightforward motion, it won't allow turns to right or left as a bike does. Therefore, the improved prior art has a head tube and a handle pivoted to the head tube for the skating board to take turns. Said modified skating board usually is provided with braking structure. However, only either a ftont or a rear brake is provided; after braking, the board will slide for a certain range in case of the front brake; and the rear brake prevents the user from quick response. On the positive side. the front brake is more favorable in frequent operation such as deceleration and the rear brake is preferred for an immediate braking. In practice, both of the front and the rear brakes are needed.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
4- The primary purpose of the present invention is to provide a skating board with front and rear brakes, comprised of braking penal, pivot, spring and front brake adapted to the stay close to the rear wheel; wherein, a tube seat is formed at one end of the braking penal and a link penal extends downwards from said tube seat; two stop ends and one fixed section are provided with the return spring; the front brake is provided with a handle to pull one end of a steel wire while the other end of the steel wire is connected to the link penal; the pivot inserted through the return spring and the tube seat of the braking penal is pivoted to the stay. The braking penal under normal conditions maintains a certain spacing from the 1; so that by either pulling in the front brake handle or forthwith stepping on the braking penal, the skating board immediately brakes by holding against the rear wheel.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is a blow-out view of the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a side A ew of the present invention as assembled.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the present invention as assembled.
Fig. 4 is a schematic view of the present invention in operation.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Referring to Fig. 1, the present invention is comprised of a braking panel (1), a pivot (2), a return spring (3) and a front brake (7). Wherein, a tube seat (11) is formed at one end of the braking panel (1) while an "U' shape link panel (12) extends downward from the tube seat (11) and a slot (12 1) is provided on the link panel (12).
One end from the body of the pivot (2) is formed with a threaded bore (2 1 to pennit connection by a fixing bolt (22).
The return spring (3) is a torque spring having two stop ends (3 1) and a "U" shape fixation section (32).
Furthermore, a rear panel (42) is provided at the rear end of a stay (4) with a pair of pivoting brackets (41) fixed to the rear panel (42). Two corresponding bores (411) are respectively provided at the terminal of the pivoting brackets (41) to pivot a rear wheel (5), and two pivoting bores (412) are provided at the front is end of the pivoting brackets (41). A board (6) with its tail approximately in flush with the front end of the pivoting bracket (41) is connected to the stay (4), and a threaded bore (42 1) is provided in the middle section between the rear board (42) and the pivoting brackets (4 1).
The front brake (7) is comprised of a steel wire (71), adjusting bolts (72, 74), locking nuts (73, 75) and a handle (76).
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, the pivot (2) is inserted through the return spring (3) and the tube seat (11) of the braking panel (1), then placed in the pivoting bore (412) on the pivoting bracket (4 1) of the stay (4) and is connected in conjunction with the threaded bore (21) that fixes the fixation bolt (22) to the 25 end of the body of the pivot (2). Wherein, the stop end (31) and the fixation section (32) of the return spring (3) are respectively jammed to the stay (4) and the braking panel (1) so that the braking panel (1) being subject to the force of the return spring (3) under normal conditions is located at where closer to the end of the tube seat (11) and hold against the rear end of the board (6) on the stay (4). In such position, the braking panel (1) indicates slightly sticking up and keeps certain spacing with the rear wheel (5). Whereas the handle (76) of the front brake (7) is fixed to the handle (not numbered) of the stay (4), once the handle (76) is pulled, the steel wire (71) is pulled synchronously. Another end of the steel wire (71) is inserted through the threaded bore (421), the locking nut (73), the adjusting bolt (72) and the slot (121) to fasten to where outside the slot (121) for connecting to the link panel (12)- Furthermore, the. adjusting bolt (72) is screwed to the locking nut (73) and the threaded bore (421) so to adjust the tension of the steel wire (71) by turning the adjusting bolt (72) in the threaded bore (421). The locking nut (73) is used to secure the adjusting bolt (72) and the adjusting bolt (74) provides the same function as that does by the locking nut is (75).
In practice, as illustrated in Fig. 2 and Fig. 4, the braking panel (1) moves downwards either by directly stepping on the braking panel (1) or by pulling the handle (76) for the steel wire (71) to pull in the link panel (12), or both actions are performed at the same time. Once the braking panel (1) moves downward, its bottom directly contacts and brakes the rear wheel (5) to achieve the most efficient, immediate and optimal braking results.
The present invention provides a skating board with both front brake and rear brake in a compact and practical overall planning and is innovative by allowing the application of the front brake, rear brake or both brakes at the same time in comparing to the prior art which simply provides front brake or rear brake, therefore, an application for utility patents is duly filed accordingly.
