Abstract

A tool (102) comprises a horizontal part, having an L shape cross section, a vertical part which is fixed to the horizontal part such that together the parts form a T shape, and a slider (103), movably attached to the vertical part. In use, the horizontal part is placed under a door (101) and is pivoted by lever action of the vertical pan in order to raise the door. The slider is then moved along the vertical part, until is contacts the door, and is secured in position by means of a thumb screw (104), thus maintaining the door at the required height. The slider may include a pencil holder (105, Figure 4) so that the tool can also be used as a T square to draw straight lines along a surface.

Description

2360314 COMBINED ADJUSTABLE DOOR SUPPORT AND LINE DRAWING TOOL
BACKGROUND
It has always been found difficult and time consuming in the past to fit doors onto either door frames of door linings due to the need to both ensure the correct fit within the door opening, but at the same time having to vertically support the door itself off the floor or ground so as to align with the door frame or lining, so as to then mark and screw the position of the hinges from the door onto the frame or lining, which can be a two person operation.
The usual method to support the door off the floor is to use wedges or other tools, but these constantly move about thus making the job difficult, so there being a need for a device to provide easy fully adjustable support of the door.
There are also additional problems when trying to draw straight lines on the surface of the door and other boards and so this device also has a design incorporated so as the same device can be used for drawing both horizontal or vertical lines.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The invention related to a device being a combined adjustable door support and line drawing tool such that in one configuration it can be placed under a door and adjusted so as to lift up the door off the floor to a required height so as to fit the hinges of the door to the door frame. The device can also be used to draw lines.
The device comprising of a tee shaped bar with a slider that can be moved along any part of its length. At one end of the bar is an angle section. When the angle section is positioned under the base of the door and the bar pulled away from the surface of the door, the door lifts up vertically to the required height. The bar is held in place away from the surface of the door by securing the slider between the bar and the door itself and locked into place by a screw through the slider on to the bar.
The slider is also capable of being fitted with a pencil or pen such that when the angle is run down the length of the side of a door or board, with the slider a set distance from the edge, a line can be drawn down the complete length of a door or board.
Also if the slider is completely removed from the tee bar, the device can be used as a normal tee square for drawing lines across a door, or board at right angles to its' edge.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
FIG 1 shows a pictorial view of the tool in its' door support configuration.
FIG 2 is a sectional view as shown through line x-x in FIG 1 FIG 3 shows an elevation view of the tool used as a tee square FIG 4 shows elevations of the tool when used for drawing parallel lines DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENT
According to the present invention there is provided a combined adjustable door support and line drawing tool device (as shown in Fig 1 and Fig 2) which comprises a tee shaped bar with angled flange item 102 which is placed under a door or board item 101 such that when the tee bar is pulled away from the door, the lever action of the angle under the door lifts the door vertically so as the door's hinges can be aligned with the door frame and can be used when fitting or removal of door. The correct height is then maintained by positioning the slider item 103 between the door item 101 and the tee bar item 102. Item 103 locates over item 102 and locked in this position by screw item 104.
When the slider item 103 is removed from item 102 the device can then be used as a conventional tee square for drawing straight lines at right angles to the side edge, of a door or sheet board material item 101 as shown in Fig 3.
The device can also be used to draw a straight line parallel to the side egde of a door or sheet board material as shown in Fig 4 whereby a pencil or pen item 106 can be inserted and held inside a clip item 105 which is secured to the slider item 103 which is fitted to the bar item 102 in the particular type of configuration thus shown.
The angle section of the bar item 102 is then held up against the edge of either a door or board or any other sheet type material item 101 and the slider item 103 moved along the bar to a required distance from the edge or the door or sheet and locked into this position by tightening the screw item 104. The bar itself can also be marked or fitted with measurements or graduations item 107, like a ruler. The bar item 102 is then run along the length of the edge of the door or board item 101 and a straight line is drawn parallel to the edgeof the door or sheet board material for the complete length of the material-
