Abstract

A telephone socket lock 2 is inserted into a telephone socket 1 and when a key is turned a locking system 3 engages a flexible catch 4. The plug 2 prevents unauthorised access to communication sockets by blocking the opening thereof.

Description

1 2360141 TELEPHONE SOCKET LOCK This invention relates to a telephone
socket locking device.
9 1 Since installing the internet into the family home I have found it difficult to regulate its use by my two teenage sons, with the result that telephone bills have doubled and even trebled. As the internet is being increasingly used in family homes as well as business the telephone socket lock would prevent any telephone/ internet line cord or accessory being introduced into the socket, with the result that its use could be regulated.
The device uses an existing BT style line plug adapted to include a locking mechanism that when inserted into an existing telephone socket can be locked by a key.
2 A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
FIGURE 1 shows in perspective the lockable telephone socket plug inserted into an existing telephone socket.
FIGURE 2 illustrates the lockable telephone socket plug with its mechanism in the locked position.
FIGURE 3 illustrates the lockable telephone socket plug with its mechanism in the unlocked position.
it Referring to the drawings the lockable telephone socket plug 2 (modified to include a locking mechanism when inserted into an existing telephone socket s locking mechanism 3 turned by the use of a shown) to a position as in Figure 2 so as to disable the flexible catch 4 from any inward movement, thus in turn, locking the plug 2 into the socket 1 preventing the insertion of any other telephone/internet line cord or accessory.
3) which 1 and with key (key not 3 In order to remove the telephone socket plug 2 from the existing socket 1 the locking mechanism 3 is turned again by the key to a position as shown in Figure 3 allowing the flexible catch 4 to be pressed back into its recess 5 to enable the plug 2 to be removed from the existing telephon socket 1.

  2. A telephone socket lock as claimed in Claim 1 once it has been locked in position in the telephone socket the key holder is able to regulate the use of the telephone socket by means of engaging and disengaging the socket lock.
  3. 3. A telephone socket lock as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 can be inserted into any individual BT style telephone socket thereby locking that socket until such time as the key holder disengages the telephone socket lock.
  4. 4.
A telephone socket lock substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
