Description

---- 0 2359880 1 DECORATIVE LAMP
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a decorative lamp and, more particularly, to a decorative lamp which gives an animated pattern and is light in weight. 2. Description of Related Art
A decorative lamp that has trains of bulbs electrically connected in series by flexible wires is known. This decorative lamp is typically suspended in a cascade. However, the lit bulbs present only a dull and motionless pattern.
A decorative lamp that has a plurality of bulbs mounted on a board in a desired pattern is also known. The bulbs flash and sparkle at night. However, the bulky, solid board is not foldable and is heavy in weight.
Therefore, it is an objective of the invention to provide a decorative lamp to mitigate and/or obviate the aforementioned problems.
The object of.the present invention is to provide a decorative lamp which gives an animated pattern and is light in weight.
Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. IN THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a preferred embodiment of a decorative lamp in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a schematic view showing the decorative lamp of Fig. 1 displaying a bell in a central position; Fig. 3 is a schematic view showing the decorative lamp of Fig. 1 displaying the 2 bell in a left side position; Fig. 4 is a schematic view showing the decorative lamp of Fig. 1 displaying the bell in a right side position; Fig. 5 is a schematic view of another preferred embodiment of a decorative lamp in accordance with the present invention, showing the decorative lamp displaying a fire sparkling at a top thereof, Fig. 6 is a schematic view showing the decorative lamp of Fig. 5 displaying the fire sparkling at a left bottom thereof, and Fig. 7 is a schematic view showing the decorative lamp of Fig. 5 displaying the fire sparkling at a right bottom thereof.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, a decorative lamp constructed in accordance with the present invention includes a net (10) and a main body (20). The net (10) is made of soft strings, such as of nylon or semitransparent plastics, with regular spaces between the strings.
The main body (20) has a plurality of trains of luminous bodies (22), such as LED (light emitting diodes) or electric mini-bulbs. The luminous bodies (22) of each train are connected in series and held on the net (10) within the spac es, in a predetermined pattern, so that wire a (2 1) that connects the luminous bodies (22) in series may be hidden behind the strings of the net (10). Preferably, the wire (2 1) has a water-proof insulator covering that is in the same color as the net (10).
Each train of the luminous bodies (22) has an electric cord (23), terminating in a common plug (25), forjoining the bodies (22) to a supply of electricity. A unit (24) is provided on the cord (23) for controlling the switching of the trains of luminous bodies (22).
1 3 As shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4, each train may be arranged in the net (10) in a pattern shaped as a bell. After the net (10) spreads out and the plug (25) is connected to a power outlet, the trains of luminous bodies (22) can be switched, by means of the unit (24), in such a way that they are lit subsequently and repeatedly, as if the bell is swinging.
As shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 7, each train may also be arranged in the net (10) in another pattern shaped as flames. In this case, the trains of luminous bodies (22) can be lit subsequently and repeatedly, as if the flames are moving.
It is more preferable that the unit (24) has a device that plays a tune with the animated pattern on the net (10), in order to bring about a very cheerful atmosphere at a holiday such as Christmas.
From the above description, it is noted that the invention has the following advantages:
1. animated pattern:
Because the trains of luminous bodies (22) are lit subsequently and repeatedly, an animated pattern is presented, which brings about a very cheerful atmosphere in a holiday.
2. easy storage:
Because the net (10) is made of soft string, the inventive decorative lamp is collapsible for carrying or storage. light weight:
Because the luminous bodies (22) are held on the net (10) instead of a solid board as in the prior art, the inventive decorative lamp is light in weight.
4. improved safety:
4 Because of the spaces between the strings of the net (10), the inventive decorative lamp is much less affected by the wind than the boards of the prior art.
It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set - forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
