Description

1 2359829 PLASLATH.
This invention relates to a building lath made of plastic.
Laths are long strips of building material, generally wood, used for a variety of purposes. mostly for providing a lattice on roofs to allow tiles to be secured. Also used for house interiors, other purposes include dry lining and battening.
used for these purposes, particularly roofs, wood has numerous disadvantages. Transportation, treatment and application of wood on site results in inefficiency, potential injury and material, therefore financial, loss.
According to the present invention there is provided a specifically manufactured lath available in three standard sizes and of three different structures. They comprise an oblong plastic extrusion with two vertical bracers, the hollow being filled with a honeycomb foam. Fig 1 An oblong plastic extrusion filled entirely with foam Fig2. An oblong plastic extrusion with a solid central brace, FigI 1 specific embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example and referring to the accompanying drawings, (Not to scale) Figures 1, 2 & 3.
Figure i shows a view of the lath with two vertical bracers and honeycomb foam fillin& the external dimensions to vary according to standard sizes currently in use in the building trade.
Figure 2 shows a view of the lath with the foam core the external dimensions to vary according to standard sizes currently in use in the building trade.
Figure 3 shows a view of the lath with the solid central brace. The external dimensions to vary according to the standard sizes currently in use in the building trade.
The purpose of the foam fill in the laths shown in figures i and 2 is to grip nails driven through the lath to secure it to its rafters/trusses and to secure materials and tiles attached to it The purpose of the solid central core in the lath shown in Figure 3 is to grip nails dfiven through the lath to 3 secure it to its rafters/trusses and to secure materials and tiles attached to it.
Each lath shown has a line shown along the longitudinal centre line to give a guide for positioning the securing nails.
