Abstract

A device for measuring vibration properties of a lubricant in a rolling element bearing, such as vibration peaks, vibration bands and/or vibration damping, comprises means for rotating and supporting one of the rings of the bearing, means for exerting an axial load on the other ring of the bearing, means for feeding a quantity of a lubricant in the bearing space defined by the outer bearing ring and the inner bearing ring, means for expelling grease from the bearing space, as well as means for collecting the grease expelled from the bearing space, and means for monitoring vibrations in the bearing. The means for feeding the lubricant, as well as the means for expelling the lubricant are mounted at the side of the bearing which is opposite the means for rotating and supporting one of the rings.
