Abstract
A puzzle includes a board having a number of pieces. The pieces 11 each has one or more cavities 12 and one or more projections 13 formed in the peripheral portion and engageable or mating with each other for assembling the pieces into the board. The board includes a pattern 14 applied onto an upper surface and another pattern applied onto the bottom surface Fig. 4 (not shown). The board may be received in a frame 20, and two transparent coverings 23 are received in the frame and engaged on both surfaces of the board for allowing the patterns to be seen from the opposite sides of the frame.
Description
2359496 1 1 PUZZLE HAVING TWO SURFACE PATTERNS The invention relates to a
puzzle having two surface patterns.
Typical puzzles comprise a board cut into a number of pieces each having one or more cavities and one or more projections engaged with the cavities of the other pieces and for allowing the users to assemble the pieces into the board. However, the typical puzzles include only one surface having a pattern applied thereon such that the pieces of the puzz le may be easily assembled.
It is accordingly an object of the present invention to provide a puzzle including a board having two surfaces each having a pattern for increasing the assembling difficulty to the puzzle.
According to the present invention there is provided a puzzle comprising:a board including a plurality of pieces, the pieces each including a peripheral portion having at -)o least one cavitv and having at least one projection which is selectively mated into the cavities of the pieces for assembling the pieces into the board, and the board including an upper surface having a first pattern and including a bottom surface having a second pattern, for increasing the assembling difficulty to the puzzle.
A frame is further provided and includes a chamber 1 - 1) - for receiving the board. A pair of transparent coverings are received in the chamber of the frame and engaged on the upper surface and the bottom surface of the board. for allowing the patterns to be seen from opposite sides of the frame and of the board.
In the drawings:- FIG. 1 is an upper perspective view of a puzzle; FIG. 2 is a partial exploded view showing the upper surface of the board of the puzzle; FIG. 3 is a partial exploded view showing the bottom surface of the board of the puzzle; and FIG. 4 is a bottom perspective view of the puzzle.
Referring to FIGS. 1-3, a puzzle comprises a frame 20 including a chamber 21 for receiving a board 10 which includes an upper surface having a pattern 14 (FIGS. 1 and 21) and a bottom surface having another pattern 16 (FIGS. 3 and 4). The board 10 is dut or separated into a number of pieces 11. The pieces 11 each has one or more cavities 12 formed in the peripheral portion and each has one or more projections 13) extended outward from the peripheral portion for selectively or for mating into the cavities 12. of the other pieces 11 and for assembling the pieces 11 into the board 10. The assembling difficulty for the puzzle is thus increased.
For further increasing the assembling difficulty to the puzzle. the upper surface and the lower surface of the board 10 may be applied with similar patterns and/or with similar colors.
Referring next to FIG. 4 and again to FIG. 1, when the upper surface and the lower surface of the board 10 are applied with different patterns 14, 16, two transparent coverings 23, such as the transparent glass members are engaged in the frame 20 and attached onto the upper and the lower surfaces of the board 10 for allowing the patterns 14, 16 to be seen from the opposite sides of the frame 20.
