Abstract

A photographic film or print holder for use in the development stage comprises a single element made from sheet material. Registering means 3, 4, 5 and 6 act to ensure that the photographic film or print remains within the holder. The film or print is not rigidly fixed in the holder but is free to move within the confines or the registers 3, 4, 5 and 6 and thus eliminates marking of the film or print during development.

The development of photographic material, requires a uniform and uninterrupted flow of various chemical solutions across its surface. This is achieved in traditional processing by submerging the print in a dish and moving the print by hand from dish to dish as required. A more professional method is to replace the dish with a vertical tank or slot with the print placed into a holding device and held rigid with clips, wires or other restraining means.The whole assembly is then transferred to and from the various tanks as required by the process.

During the process, the clips, wires or other restraining means, are prone to either mark the delicate photographic emulsion or impair development of the image.

This new device has been developed to eliminate problems caused by clips wires, pins or other restraining means, by locating the photographic material without gripping or biting means.

This invention is a photographic print holder comprising a single element device X made from a sheet material with no springs, pins or clips. Position and contro! ollthe print is achieved by making no attempt to rigidly locate the material, but to ' restrict' rather than 'f-ix' its location by the use of suitably shaped and cut areas of the device Once in place the print or film is free to move or float within the confines of the holder.
