Abstract

A combined container and cleaning device comprises a container (2) which is adapted to hold a quantity of a cleaning fluid and which incorporates on an outer surface thereof means adapted to act as a cleaning device. The cleaning device comprises a plurality of projections (8) extending substantially normal to the wall of the container, the projections being in the form of 'bristles' secured to the container or alternatively the projections (8) are formed integrally with the container.

2359290 COMSINED CONTAINER AND CLEANING DEVICE This invention relates to a

combined container and cleaning device, and more particularly to such a device which is adapted to hold a quantity of a cleaning fluid and which incorporates means capable of being used as a cleaning device.

According to the present invention there is provided a combined container and cleaning device comprising a container which is adapted to hold a quantity of a cleaning fluid and which incorporates on an outer surface thereof means adapted to act as a cleaning device.

Preferably, said container will incorporate a fluid dispensing device and will preferably be composed of plastics material.

Said container will incorporate on an outer surface thereof a plurality of projections extending substantially normal to a wall of the container, said projections each being in the form of 'bristles' attached to the container, or alternatively the projections may be formed integrally with the container.

The container may incorporate a plurality of cleaning devices.

In order that the invention may be more readily understood, an embodiment thereof will now be described, by way of example only, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 is a front view of a combined container and cleaning device in accordance with the invention; and Figure 2 is a side elevation on Figure 1.

Referring to the drawings, there is shown a container 2 which is preferably composed of plastics material. The container is generally circular and is 'waisted' as indicated at 4, and the container - adapted to hold a quantity of a cleaning fluid (not shown) - is closed by a screw -threaded cap 6 engaging a screw-threaded neck of the container. The container may incorporate a pump (not shown) such that the fluid in the container 2 may be dispensed without inverting the container.

Located on or in the wall of the container 2 is a plurality of projections indicated by reference numerals 8, the plurality of projections extending substantially normal to the wall of the container.

In the embodiment of the invention illustrated, the projections 8 are each composed of a plurality of 'bristles' which are arranged in brushlike form as clearly seen in the drawings. The 'bristles' may be inserted into pre-formed holes in the container or the 'bristles' may be attached to a pad which is then adhered to the wall of the container. The projections may, alternatively, be formed of plastics material and formed integrally with the container 2, the projections in this case preferably being tapered towards their outer extremities.

It will be appreciated that the container 2 may be other than generally circular, in that the container may be square or rectangular, or indeed any other suitable shape, and the container need not necessarily be 'waisted'.

In addition, the container 2 may be provided with more than one plurality of projections. For example, there may be projections - either in 'bristle' form or in integral form, or a combination of the two - on two or more walls of the container, the projections in such a case being preferably of differing forms so as to give variation in use of the differing projections.

Use of the container and cleaning device in accordance with the invention will be self-apparent. Fluid in the container will be dispensed by removing the cap 6, or where provided by operation of the pump, whereafter the container is closed and the projections 8 used to clean an article or articles in combination with the fluid dispensed from the container.

Claims

CLAIMS:

1. A combined container and cleaning device comprising a container which is adapted to hold a quantity of a cleaning fluid and which incorporates on an outer surface thereof means adapted to act as a cleaning device.

2. A combined container and cleaning device according to Claim 1, wherein said container incorporates a fluid dispensing device.

3. A combined container and cleaning device according to Claim 1 or Claim 2,1 wherein said container is composed of plastics material.

4. A combined container and cleaning device according to any of Claims 1 to 3, wherein said cleaning device comprises a plurality of projections extending substantially normal to a wall of the container.

A combined container and cleaning device according to Claim 4, c wherein said projections are each composed of a plurality of 'bristles' arranged in brush-like form, said 'bristles' being inserted into pre-formed holes in the container or being attached to a pad adhered to a wall of the container.

6_ A combined container and cleaning device according to Claim 4, wherein said projections are fom-ied of plastics material and integrally with the container.

7. A combined container and cleaning device according to any of C the preceding Claims, wherein said container incorporates a plurality of cleaning devices.
