Description

2359056 1 PACKAGING FOR PHOTOGRAPHS The invention relates to packaging for
photographs, particularly, though not exclusively to packaging for portrait photographs.
Portrait photographs of individuals in an organisation are very popular, particularly in schools and also in clubs and for employees of companies, for example. A photographer takes portrait photographs of each individual and prints are then provided for the individual, or parents in the lo case of school photographs, to decide which they wish to purchase. It has been common practice for the photograph supplier to supply a set of prints with mounts in a sealed transparent bag to the potential purchaser, who then decides whether to buy the whole set or only a selection. In recent years a new system has been developed in which a "preview portraiC is sent to the prospective purchaser, who then selects which set of a number of different sets of prints he or she wishes to purchase. The selected set of prints, with accompanying mounts, is then sent to the purchaser or to the school, club etc for distribution to the individual purchasers.
In either case, the set of prints and corresponding mounts are sealed in a transparent bag. Most companies providing such photographic prints wish to present the product in an attractive manner and thus it is usual for the largest print in the set to be inserted in its mount and then positioned in the bag so that the photograph is visible, with the remaining prints and mounts being inserted in the bag behind the mount of the largest print. The insertion of the print in the mount has to be done manually and, along with the arrangement of the prints and mounts in the bag, is labour intensive and slow.
