Abstract
235,895. Danger, H. [Firm of]. June 18, 1924, [Convention date]. Making wafer biscuits.-In a machine for making wafers or the like, independent irons, recessed on each face, are constrained to move in a row so that the opposed recesses of adjacent irons form the mould cavities, and irons removed at one end of the row are transferred to the other end. In Fig. 2, the irons a form a broken annulus and are moved anti-clock'wise, the uppermost iron being laid on the horizontal exposed face of its leader over which a known batter supply device is intermittently positioned. A locking-device prevents retrograde movement of the irons which are provided and guided by rollers c, d engaging with suitable tracks. Each iron has a radially arranged sliding spring-pressed rod o mounted at each of its sides, the rods being bevelled at the upper ends whereby they snap into holes on an oscillating yoke n which removes the uppermost iron and transfers it to the beginning of the row, pressing the whole row forward to preserve its initial position. Cams retract the rods o from the yoke which returns to the position shown in Fig. 2 to engage the next iron. The yoke is operated by duplicate link mechanism comprising swinging levers q, slotted to receive crank pins p and pivot pins r, pivotally connected to the yoke n. A link s connects the batter supply mechanism to a lever q. The irons are hollow to admit the hot gases from burners, or the hollow spaces may contain electric heating-elements taking current by brushes and sliding contacts. The rods o may be replaced by yielding bolts on the yoke adapted to engage openings in the irons.
