Abstract

A baggage wrapping machine comprises a turntable 14 with jaws 12 to grip an item of baggage thereon as it is wrapped with film 5 fed through tensioning rollers 3, 4. The machine carries a rotary display board 16 which may include a series of LED, to advertise the wrapping service. Electric motors 2 and 10 drive the display board and turntable respectively. The housing for the wrapping film includes metal legs 6 and a plastic cover 7, the display board 16 also having a plastic cover and being able to rotate through up to 160 degrees. The surface of the turntable 14 comprises rubber members 13, 15.

Description

2358384 BAGGAGE PROTECTION MACHINE This invention relates to the baggage
protection machine of the type which is used for baggage sealing with the cellophane film wrap, of a modern design to fit into the modern surrounding of today's travelling premises, easily movable by a single person.
Such machines have been around for sometime, however suffer from the disadvantage of being too bulky and obtrusive for the modern travelling world. Some of these machines have been thought of as self-service which has not been received well by the passengers who usually do not have enough time to master the sealing process.
An object of this invention is to provide passengers with protection against problems that may originate during the process of moving luggage from the airport to the aircraft and back by accidental fails, exposure to heavy weather conditions and the like.
Accordingly, this invention provides the baggage protection machine including an advertising display and two bodies, one mechanical which holds the cellophane film wrap and the other with mechanical scissors, electrically powered, which are used to hold and rotate the baggage and provide 360' sealing range.
Preferably the machine is made of a metal construction, covered with coloured plastic, while the colours can be changed. The electrical motor is situated in the smaller body.
The usual embodiment of the machine will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIGURE 1 shows a side view of the whole machine., FIGURE 2 shows a side view of the display.
As shown in Figure 1, the display is mounted onto base 1. The display is powered by an electrical motor 2 which allows for it to rotate up to 1600.
The larger base 1 composed of the metal legs 6 construction and plastic cover 7, holds two iron rollers 3, 4 which hold and tense the cellophane film wrap 5. This part also includes the operator's switch board 8.
The smaller base 9 holds within the motor 10, the transmission 11 and the socalled scissors 12 for holding the baggage during rotation. The baggage is placed on top of the smaller base which is protected by rubber 13, 14, 15.
As shown in Figure 2, the display is a single unit, that can also function alone and it is used to advertise the service and attract the customers. The display is composed of a LED series 16 and a plastic cover 17.

  1. 2 CLAIMS 1. A machine composed of a display, a mechanical body with
    rollers for the S, cellophane film wrap and another mechanical-electrical body for the sci s and baggage rotation.
  2. 2. A baggage protection machine as claimed in Claim 1 which is made from metal and plastic, with electrical and mechanical components.
  3. 3. A baggage protection machine substantially as herein described and in the accompanying drawings.
