The laminated plywood structure is heat resistant and will not deform on contact with water.
Description
2358372 I
T1TLE: A LAMINATED PLYWOOD STRUCTURE BACKGROUND OF THE F%TVENTION a.) Technical Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to laminated plywood structure, and in particular, a laminated plywood having a middle layer made from a thin, rustresistant metallic plate so that the strength of the entire laminated plywood structure is improved and deformation of the laminated plywood is prevented. In accordance with the present mventing, the laminated plywood structure can be used in any fabrication process.
b) Description of the Prior Art
Fig. I shows a conventional plywood structure having an outer layer I I and a bottom layer 12, both of the layers 11, 12 having a similar direction of wood fiber patterns. A middle layer 13 is located in between the two layers 113 12 and has a vertical wood fiber pattern. The layers 11, 12,13 are glued together to form a synthetic laminated product As the middle layer 13 is enclosed by the two layers 11, 12, it can be a board made from inferior material. In addition, the wood fiber pattern is different from that of the two layers 11, 12 so as to reduce deformation of the laminated plywood structure. However, a saw-like shaped cross-section will form if the laminated product is cut and it can not be milled to improve the saw-like shaped cross-section.
2 Thus, this laminated plywood structure is only employed in the manufacturing of low cost product.
ROC patent application no. 87204102, entitled "Improved structure of plywood7', filed by the same applicant discloses a plywood structure 2, as shown in Fig. 2. The plywood structure 2 comprises of a plurality of surfaco, layers 21, 22, and a middle layer 23. The wood fiber patterns of tho individual layers are similar but the wood fiber pattern of the vertical crossr, section 231 and that of the horizontal cross-section 232 of the middle layer 23.
are not interlinked. Due to the discontinuation of the wood fibre patterns, the, I tension of the wood fiber is cut off and the deformation of the plywo(xill structure can be prevented. Due to the similar direction of wood fiber pattem, of the surface layers 21, 22 and the middle layer 23, the sectional surface is a flat surface which can be milled for further fabrication process.
However, when wood material is in contact with moisture or at high temperature, as a result of the physical property of the material, the fiber of thoij, wood material of the surface layer will expand and a pushing force is formed, at other portion of the plywood structure such that the entire plywood or a part. of the entire plywood may be deformed. Such deformation may not be: restored to its original shape even when the temperature or the moisture:
condition has returned to normal. Besides, at low temperature or low:
3 humidity, a partial of wood fiber of the surface layer may contract and a pulling force may form on other part of the plywood structure. As a result the entire plywood structure or part of the plywood structure may deform to a certain extent. The deformation may not be restored when the humidity and temperature become nomial.
4 SUMMARY OVEIIE EWENTION
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a laminated plywood structure, Wherein a thin, rust-resistant metallic plate is located as A middle layer in between two outer surface layers made from wood materia, The strength of the laminated plywood structure is increased, and a pushin$ force as a result of fiber expansion of wood material and a pulling force as a result of fiber contraction are prevented, and the deformation of lamimted plywood structure is prevented.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a laminated plywoo($ structure, wherein the. thin metallic plate allows the entire laminated' plywood., structure to be milled, cut or nailed to enhance its applicability.

7 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TIJE PRESENT INVENTION
For the purpose of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings. Specific language will be used to describe same. It will, nevertheless, be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, such alterations and firther modifications in the illustrated device, and such further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated herein being contemplated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
The present invention provides a new plywood material structure, which has a wider application than that of natural wood material. The present invention also reduces the dependent of natural wood consumption so as to avoid excessive damages to the biological environment Referring to Figs. 3 and 4, the present structure includes two outer layers 3, 4 with a middle layer 5 being adhered therebetween. The present structure can also includes a plurality of outer layers 3, 4 with a middle layer 5 adhered therebetween In accordance with the present invention, the outer layers 3, 4 are made from wood material, such as board, single board, laminated plywood or fiber board, and the direction of wood fiber pattems of the layers are similar, The middle layer 5 is a metallic plate, such as aluminum plate, copper plate, 1 1 8 stainless steel plate, etc, which is a rust-resistant metallic material and has a, thickness of, preferably about 0.05mm. A water resistant glue is employe(j to glue the middle layer 5 in between the two outer layers 3, 4 to form into a plywood block. The laminated plywood structure in accordance with tht, present invention, as a result of the strength, elasticity, and hardness of th(,,, metallic plate at the middle layer, can be used as a supporting wall or ar1r, isolation wall. Further, the heat conductivity and heat dissipation are better than that of wood, it can be used as a heat conductive board.
In view of the above properties, the present invention provides the fimctions as follows:
a) If one of the outer layer deforms as a result of moisture causin53 a pushing force or a pulling force, the metallic plate at the, middle layer will cut off he pulling force or the pushing force,, At this instance, the middle layer and the outer layer combiner together to form a supporting wall with sufficient strength to,, I resist the pulling force and the pushing force of the deformed! surface layer. Accordingly, the deformation of the entire plywood structure is prevented.
b) If the two outer layers defonn as a result of the moisture, th(:, metallic plate at the middle layer will cut off the pushing forct, 9 and the pulling force, and will be used as an isolation board to resist the pushing force and the pulling force. Accordingly, the deformation of the entire plywood structure is prevented.
c) If one of the outer layer produces a pushing force or a pulling force as a result of temperature change, the metallic plate of the middle layer becomes a heat. conductor and provides heat trarisfer and heat dissipation. Thus, the strength of the pushing force or pulling force is reduced. In addition, the other outer surface and the metallic plate are combined together to form an entire block supporting wall and is capable of resisting the pushing force or pulling force. 71hus, the deformation of the entire plywood structure is prevented d) If two outer layers produce a pushing force or a pulling force as a result of temperature change, the metallic plate of the middle layer will inunediately cut ofF the pushing or pulling force such that the two outer layers will not mutually push or pull. In addition, the metallic plate of the middle layer is employed as an isolation wall for the pulling force or the pushing force such that the two forces are mutually cancelled. Thus, the deformation of the entire plywood structure is prevented. In addition, the middle layer can be used to provide heat transfer or heat dissipation so that the entire plywood structure can be rapidly restored to its normal condition.
e) As a result of the metallic plate at the middle layer, the strength, of the plywood is greatly improved. Thus, it serves to provide wider application and achieves economic benefits. As the quality of the plywood structure is stable and the plywml structure is strong, it can be fabricated to other products whicl) may not be able to fabricate using other plywood structure. hii addition, the metallic plate is thin, it can undergo milling, cutting, nailing process for further fabrication.
nce with the present invention, the fiber patterns of e a In accorda th tw outer layers may be of opposition direction which causes a saw-like shape(JI when it undergoes a cutting process. However, the plywood structure also:
possesses the advantage of lowering deformation to a minimum.
It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or, more together may also find a useful application in other t)Ws of methods, differing from the type described above.
While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the amexed claim, it is not intended to No! 11 limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing m any way from the spirit of the present invention.
