Abstract
The tip of a sparkler is provided with a flammable material in the form of a coating or cap. The material has a lower and immediate ignition temperature than the sparkler. The material will facilitate instant ignition of itself and will continue to burn at a sufficient temperature, (when removed from the original heat source), so that sparkler itself will ignite.
Description
2358237 IGNITION PROCESSES FOR SPARKLERS (Fireworks) This invention
relates to an ignition system/process for indoor and outdoor sparklers.
Sparklers are a type of hand held firework used indoor and outdoors, which when ignited create an effect of bright and energetic light in the form of sparks. The initial ignition of a sparkler is difficult and can be dangerous, in certWa circumstances. The ignition of a sparkler is to light the tip using a separate heat source, (normally a naked flame), for a certain period of time until the required temperature is achieved and the sparkler then ignites.
The safer ignition of a sparkler can be achieved by the following two processes:
1. Dip and/or coat the tip of a sparkler in a non-drip flammable materiaL 2. Attach a tight fitting, non-drip flammable pre-formed cap to the tip of the sparkler.
Both ignition processes require that the coating and cap comprise of a non-drip flammable material that has a lower and immediate ignition temperature than that of the sparkler. Moreover the coating and cap will continue to burn once removed from the initial heat source, and for a period of time that will allow the sparkler to reach the required temperature that will activate ignition of the sparkler itselE The above processes/system promotes the safer ignition of a sparkler, using a conventional naked flame, as the inherent requirement of having to hold/place the unlit sparkler on or close to the heat source for a set period of time until the sparkler ignites is reduced.
The essence of the processes is described by way of reference to accompanying drawing and description:
Figure 1 shows a sparkler with a tight fitting pre-formed cap made from a non-drip flammable material.
Coating the tip a sparkler with a non-drip flammable material as detailed above.

Claims (2)
1. An ignition process and system for indoorloutdoor sparklers (Fireworks) comprising of a pre-formed fitted cap made from non-drip flammable material that facilitates the immediate initial ignition of the material itself and subsequent result of ignition of the sparkler.
2. An ignition process and system for indoorloutdoor sparklers (Fireworks) comprising of a coating that is applied to the sparkler, made from a non-drip flammable material that facilitates the immediate initial ignition of the material itself, and the subsequent result of ignition of the sparkler.
