Abstract

235,738. Barr, A. July 26, 1924. Separating by rotary conical discs.-Apparatus for sorting granular material consists of a conical disc A rotating about its axis B which is inclined so that the lowest straight generating line of the cone inclines downwardly from the apex K to the rim. The material is fed bv a shoot D and is separated into two grades which are discharged respectively over the rim of the cone into a hopper E and through apertures G at the apex into a hopper H. The vertex angle of the cone and the inclination of the axis may be varied, and the surface may be of glass, porcelain, or cement and may be polished or roughened, painted, or varnished or lined with paper, cloth or india-rubber to suit the conditions of the separation. The disc may be driven by a belt and pulley C or by the materials falling from a height.
