Abstract

A urinal is mounted such that the height thereof is adjustable. The bowl is preferably shaped such that, in use, it fits between the thighs of the user thus making it suitable for use by females. The bowl is suitably supplied with handles on either side and/or with a spring-loaded handle for vertical movement of the urinal. A push-button flush may be provided.

Description

2357033 Descripition Female Urinal This invention relates to a urinal
designed for female use. Male urinals are well known products in use in public toilets.
The female urinal consists of a bowl shaped for female use, with two opposite sides curved to fit the inner thighs of a woman as she straddles the bowl. The vertical section has a deep depth to contain and reduce splash back.
The purpose of the invention is to reduce queues in female toilets. The small size of the urinal allows more toilets to be used in the same room and thus increases the potential amount of women that can use a toilet area at the same time. The urinal also requires less water to flush fluids away and smaller pipes than a conventional toilet.
Figure 4 Shows the shape of the female urinal Figure 114, Section 2 Shows the two rods that support the female urinal Figure 214, Section 4 Shows the flushing tubes that run around the perimeter of the urinal, plus the larger holes at the back and the smaller holes at the front.
Figures 114 and 214, Section 6 Show the push button flush position Figure 214, Section 7 Shows the back lip of the urinal used to protect against spillage at the back Figure 114, Section 8 Shows how the user of the female urinal adjusts the bowl by holding the handles on both sides and lifts or lowers the urinal to suit The female urinal has a bowl shaped to fit the contours of the female inner thigh.
One end of the bowl spreads out and forms an upper lip to help control fluid as it is passed away from the user. The user can sit or squat when using the urinal. At the front of the urinal there is a vertical bowl this also helps to collect and control fluid as it passes away from the user.
The flushing method operates 3600 around the vertical and horizontal parts of the urinal. This is achieved via perforations in a tube fitted 3600 around the urinal.
The perforations are smaller at the front of the vertical section and larger at the back of the urinal bowl. See figure...
The urinal can be adjusted to various heights to aid comfort and ease of use.
This is achieved via two rods - with ridges cut into each one at the same height - and a spring-loaded lever. See figure...
The waste pipe has an adjustable S-bend which will move when the urinal is adjusted. The flushing bottom has a 5-second delay which should release enough water to flush the fluid away completely. The urinal's weight must not exceed 5kg - so the user will be able to lift or lower it easily - and must be strong enough to hold a 15-stone user is she were to sit on it.
Drawi ng- 1 1. Two 30mm-diameter steel bars with wedge shapes cut out of them. The wedge shapes are for lowering and raising the urinal.
2. The spring-loaded handle that adjusts the height of the urinal.
3. The position of the 15mm-diameter water inlet that flushes fluid away.
4. The adjustable trap that connects to the urinal and allows it to be lifted or lowered.
5. The height from the floor is adjustable from 600-40Omm.
6. The handle that is moulded into the urinal.
7. The inner section of the urinal that accepts the fluid and flushes it away. The depth of the inner section is 75-1 0Omm and is shown by the dotted lines.
8. The height of the urinal from the front to the centre edge is 1 0Omm (see drawing 2, section 3 for more details).
9. The push button flush.
10. 80Omm is the height at which the urinal stands above the front section 4_.
Drawing two 1. The two vertical steel rods used to hold the urinal in place as shown in drawing 1, section 1.
2. The flush holes through which the clean water will be dispersed around the bowl's edge. Note the size of the holes will vary, from large at the front to small at the back - this allows water to be distributed around the bowl evenly.
3. The two curves allow the user to place a leg either side of the urinal and squat over or sit on the urinal itself.
4. The front view of the front lip of the urinal (height of 135mm).
5. The push button flush mechanism.
Drawing three 1 - The position of the two steel rods used to adjust the height of the urinal.
2. The position of the holes that will flush the fluid away.
3. The thickness of the perimeter of the urinal bowl is between 15-18mm.
4. The lip at the front perimeter of the urinal bowl is 1 00mm.
5. The wash outlet (size 50mm).
6. The width of the urinal is 300mm.
7. The shape which fits in-between the user's thighs is 1 00mm on both sides.
8. The gap that will allow wa steto be carried away is 100mm thick.
9. The overall length of the urinal is 450mm.
4.

Claims (8)

Claims
1. The female urinal, comprising of a basin shaped to fit between the inner thighs, allows the user to position herself comfortably. The two bars allow the basin to be elevated or lowered to a comfortable height.
2. The female urinal, as described in claim 1, is fitted with handles on either side to allow the basin to be lowered or elevated to suit the user.
3. The female urinal, as claimed in claim 1 and 2, has a spring-loaded handle which allows the urinal to be positioned at the required height and locked into position by the two bars.
4. The female urinal, as claimed in claim 2 and 3, has a push-button flush with a delay of 5-7 seconds to allow the fluid to be flushed. No storage tank is needed because so little water is needed for flushing.
5. The female urinal, as claimed in claim 4, requires lower installation costs than normal toilets because of the size of the pipes needed to carry waste away.
6. The female urinal, as claimed in claims 1-5, has a surface area that is smaller than a toilet and requires less water for flushing. Because of its smaller size, a greater amount of urinals can be installed in a space that would otherwise be occupied by fewer toilets.
7. The female urinal, as claimed in claim 6, should reduce queues for female toilets in public places.
8. The female urinal, as claimed in claim 7, has a tube fitted to its side to allow fluid to be taken away. At the head of the urinal, there are small holes and at the back the holes are larger.
