Abstract
A bracket 1 supporting a rail 2 used for coat hangers is made from a single piece of bent material shaped so as to leave a clear space in front of and above the rail whereby the hanger hook 3 can be slid along the rail unobstructed by the bracket. The bracket can be mounted overhead, eg on a shelf 4 as shown, or its upper arm can be omitted and the bracket mounted on a wall by its side arm.

2356800 HANGING RAIL MW SUPPORT BRACKET This invention relates to a
hanging rail mid support bracket Hanging rails, for example wardrobe hanging rails, normally have mid support brackets to prevent sagging due to either their length, the imposed weight, or both.
Currently available mid support brackets suffer from the disadvantage that hangers, such as coat hangers, cannot slide past the bracket Hangers need to he removed from the rail and rehung on the other side of the bracket. It is also known that space between fixed support points is required to facilitate item selection.
In summary normal raid support brackets limit the use of the rail and the available space.
An object of this invention is to allow hangers, such as coat hangers, to pass freely, on the hanging rail, over the hanging rail support. In addition to the increased convenience this also allows additional supports to he introduced as necessary, to prevent sagging, without restricting the use of the hanging rail.
According to the present invention, there is provided a bracket to support a hanging rail which leaves a clear space above and in front of a hanging rail beyond which hanging items, such as coat hangers, may pass unobstructed.
The bracket is manufactured from a single continuous length of material capable of receiving a variety of decorative finishes to match the appearance of existing hanging rails and fittings.
The bracket is manipulated to a specific shape. Having a top horizontal leg, the metal is bent at 90 degrees forming a vertical extension below, and behind, the hanging rail. It is then bent upwards at an acute angle to meet the base of the hanging rail. At this point it is shaped to support the underside of the hanging rail. The bracket way also, by omitting the top horizontal leg, be used to fit to a wall instead of a shelf above.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example of a hanging rail in a typical wardrobe. The accompanying drawing illustrates a side view of the invented bracket 1 and coat banger 3, a section through the continuous hanging rail 2 and shelf 4 above. The bracket 1 is screwed to the underside of a support, such as a shelf 4, in the same way as normal mid support brackets are fixed.

Claims (2)
1 A bracket to support a hanging rail which leaves a clear space above and in front of a hanging rail through which hanging items, such as coat hangers, may pass unobstructed.
2 The bracket as claimed in Claim 1 may also, by omitting the top horizontal leg, be used to fit to a wall instead of a shelf above.
