Description

2356696 FRAGRANT OIL BURNER The invention relates to a fragrant oil burner
of the type which comprises a two-part container into which one places a buming/flaming candle and a fragrant oil.
Such burners are well known, but are all similar in a basic "tripod" structure consisting of a base, where the nightlight (metal case contained melting candle) is placed, and a upper cc saucee,,where the fragrant oil is placed. The flame heats the "saucer" above it and causes a diffusion of fragrance from the base oil to occur. These burners allow only one type of candle to be used i.e. the nightlight candle, and the basic structure of the burner allows little room for modification and originality in design as the " saucer " is always place above the flame.
The object of this invention is to provide an innovative and completely different looking burner, its innovative structure allowing it to function in a different, more diverse and convenient way than the well known "tripod" type burners. It is multifinictional, as it allows for more than one type of candle (namely the nightlight candle) to be used and allows one the choice of use with or without oils. The "tripod" type burners do not offer this choice, they function as oil burners only and cannot be used without oil and the specific "nightlight" candle.
Accordingly, this invention provides a fragrant oil burner comprising a cup-like vessel with a base grooved in such a way as to provide the option of 5 varieties of candle: Nightlight candle (solid wax to melting, liquid wax encased in metal) Melting candle (solid candle which liquidates with no case) Fragrant melting candle (solid candle which liquidates and release fragrancemo, case) Church candle (large, thick, tall candle which keeps its basic shape) Household candle (basic thin, tall original candle which keeps its basic shape) The vessel comprises a deeply grooved outer lip or "moaf 'encircling the circumference of the vessel and reaching down to the base of the vessel, into which fragrant oil can be placed. The heat ftorn the flame of the chosen candle will cause diffusion of fragrance from the oil.
The top of the vessel can be designed with "punche&' holes/shapes/patterns in order to cast aesthetic candle light, as well as surface designs, as can be seen on most "tripod" burners.
Preferably the fragrant oil burner vessel is made of clear or opaque glass, pottery crockery material such as clay, plaster mould/casting material, pyrex, or porcelain of a flame resistant nature. It can also be made out of stone, metal or a combination of these materials t A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
FIGURE 1. shows an outer side view of the vessel FIGURE 2: shows an outer side view of the vessel with holes FIGURE 3: shows an inner side view with "nightlight" candle and oil in grooved lip FIGURE 4: shows detailed side view of the base grooves of the vessel FIGURE 5: shows inner side view of vessel with melting candle (choice of fragranced or un-fragranced melting candle) FIGURE 6: shows inner side view of vessel with "church" candle FIGURE 7: shows inner side view of vessel with "household" candle" 2 As shown in Figure 1, the fragrant burner comprises a holding vessel I with a grooved lip 2. It has a flat, solid base 3 and an open top 4.
As shown in Figure 2, punched holes/designs 5 may be created for aesthetic candle light casting.
As shown in Figure 3, the grooved lip 2 extends down 9 to the grooved large 6 and small 7 sections at the base 3 of the vessel. Fragrant oil 8 is applied into the grooved lip 2 surrounding the vessel 1. The nightlight candle 10 fits into the larger groove 6 and warms the fragrant oil 8 which releases fragrance.
As shown in Figure 4, the base 3 is grooved into a large groove 6 for the purpose of fitting thick "church candles" 12 (with or without fragrant oil 8) and Mightlight candles 10 (with fragrant oil 8). The smaller groove 7 can be used for a basic household candle 13, with or without fragrant oil 8.
As shown in Figure 5, normal solid-to-liquid candles I I (fragranced or un-fragranced) can also be used in this vessel 1. If a fragranced liquid candle is used 11, then there is no need to drop fragrant oil 8 into the grooved lip 2,9.
As shown in Figure 6, a thick "church candle" 12 is fitted into the larger groove 6 and can be used with or without fragrant oil 8.
As is shown in Figure 7, a normal household candle 13 can be fitted into the smaller groove 7 and can be used with or without fragrant oil 8.
3 0 DETAILED DESCRIPTION WITH EXAWLES
As shown in Figure 1, the fragrant burner is a vessel 1, with a grooved lip 2, a flat solid base 3 and an open top 4. In Figure 2.it is illustrated that designer holes 5 may be added to the top of the vessel for aesthetic light casting appeal. Figure 3 shows that fragrant oil 8 is dropped around the side of the vessel, into the grooved lip 2, it slides down to the bottom of the grooved lip 9 and is slightly absorbed if the material used to make the vessel I is clay. If non-absorbent material, such as clear glass is used, the oil will settle around the bottom of the grooved lip 9, adding to the visual, aesthetic appeal of the vessel 1. A nightlight candle 10 is placed within the vessel I within the larger groove 6 and is lit, causing a flame to appear. The flame will not only cast aesthetic, flickering light, but will also heat up the surrounding grooved lip 2,9 and cause the oil to wann up and diffUse fragrance into the air. The vessel I is multi-flanctional as it has an open top 4 and can, therefore, be used purely as a candle holding vessel without having to use of fragrant oil at all. The grooves 6,7 are designed for this purpose. The fragrant oil burner vessel 1 is designed to hold nightlight candles 10 as shown in Figure 3, and thicker "church" candles 12 as shown in Figure 6, both within groove 6. Figure 7 shows how thinner household candles 13 fit into groove 7. Figure 5 illustrates how the fragrant oil burner vessel I can also be used as a suitable container for candles which liquidate completely whilst burning, Le: fragranced and unfragranced un-cased melting candles 11.

Claims (4)

  1. I. A fragrant oil burner comprising a vessel with a grooved lip surrounding the circumference of the vessel and extending down to the base of the vessel into which fragrant oil is placed in order to be heated by a flaming nightlight candle placed inside the suitably grooved base of the vessel, thereby causing diffusion of fragrance into the air.
  2. 2. A fragrant oil burner as claimed in Claim I that comprises of one large and one small base groove to enable the vessel to hold, within the larger groove, a nightlight candle as per Claim 1, a thicker "churcW' candle, and serve as a container for a liquidating non-cased melting candle.
  3. 3. A fragrant oil burner as claimed in Claim I or Claim 2, including a second smaller groove in the base of the vessel for the purpose of holding a thin household candle.
  4. 4. A fragrant oil burner as claimed in claimed in Claim I or Claim 2 or Claim 3 that may be created with punched designed rim holes for the purpose of increased light casting effects S.
