Abstract

In the event of failure of an existing golf trolley speed control unit the user disconnects the original and replaces it with the present unit. The control comprises a potentiometer 1 with a control knob 2 mounted within an ABS box 3 having clips 9 for attachment to a tubular handle of a golf trolley. The potentiometer is connected via wiring 4 to a terminal block and to a three core cable 6 passing through a grommet 7 in the box wall and terminating in a connector 8 for coupling to an existing golf trolley power unit.

Description

2356298 Golf Trolley Switchet
Description
The Switchet is a portable assembly designed to be simple and using basic components consists of a hand operated switch assembly, a length of electrical cable and an appropriate connection to match the housing connection on power operated Golf Trolleys all interconnected and with the materials available from industry.
Power operated Golf Trolleys suffer from the failure of the speed control switch -after a certain indeterminate frequency of use. On many occasions thelailure of the original switch on the Golf Trolley will occur whilsra player is on the Golf course thus causing much anxiety and expended energy on the part of the player to manually return the Golf Trolley to the players vehicle or to the clubhouse. In addition the player could at the time of the failure of the Golf Trolley Switch be involved in a competion cause the player extreme concern.,,this would most certainly The main purpose of the Switchet assembly is to act as an emergency control appliance which could simply be brought into use should the original switch contained within the handle of a power operated Golf Trolley fail to function in a satisfactory manner. The Switchet assembly would simply replace the existing control switch, wiring and connection from the power supply and become a temporary operational control system and allow the Golf Trolley to remain in operation under power until such time as the original switch is replaced.
To bring the Switchet assembly into operation is simple non-technical task. The existing connection would require to be withdrawn from the Power Unit housing on the Golf Trolley thus making the original control unit located within the handle inoperable. The Connection which forms a part of the Switchet control system would require to be connected to the existing Power Unit housing of the Golf Trolley and the Switchet operational switch assembly clipped to the tubular handle of the Golf Trolley for ease of operation.
The power to the Switchet operational assembly is fed from the terminal connection fitted to the existing Golf Trolley power unit.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing reference number 1/1.
2 Drawing As shown in Drawing number 1/1, the operational switch assembly consists of a Potentiometer 1 housed within a high impact ABS plastic box enclosure 2 and operated by means of a control Knob 3 located externally. The Potentiometer 1 is connected by means of 3 core wiring 4 to a terminal strip 5 contained within the plastic enclosure 2. A suitable length of 3 core cable 6 is connected to the terminal strip 5 within the plastic box enclosure 2 and via a sealing grommet 7 the other end is terminated with a suitable 3 pole connection 8 matched to the terminal connection fitted to the power operated Golf Trolleys presently in use. Two plastic clips 9 are fixed to the operational switch assembly to allow for its ease of connection to the tubular handle of the Golf Trolley.
