Abstract

A de-mountable shield C has, at its wider end, a moulded curve D creating a barrier between high pressure water, being delivered from the nozzle of pressure-washer G and side shields J to contain potentially damaging material, within the shield. The shield is mounted on the pressure water utilising 'U' bolts at E and F. Edging strips K may be mounted when the shield is used for activities when a 'soft edge' to the shield is required, to prevent damage to the item being cleaned.

Description

2356161 PRESSURE-WASHER SHIELD The invention relates to high-pressure
jet-washing equipment.
Introduction
Known high-pressure jet washing equipment creates a jet of high-pressure water which is then propelled through a nozzle at one end of a tube from a water source.
When the high-pressure jet of water is propelled through the nozzle, water is projected over a considerable distance, therefore causing considerable spray in the surrounding area and possible annoyance in the vicinity of the jet-w asher.
ObLee A ofthe It is the object of the invention to at least alleviate the problem of the aforementioned disadvantages.
SAWDIM of ft wv-"AOA Accordingly, this invention provides a shield from the high-pressure spray created by jet- washing equipment.
2 important feattires of the immentio Preferably the shield and its fixings are made of metal or plastics material but may be made from a combination of these or other materials.
PrefeMe_d embodiment of tke inventLon with Mf_Srence to the accg= diagom A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIGURE I shows a detail perspective view of the whole shield showing likely positions of pressure-washer tubes connecting to the shield, according to the invention.
FIGURE 2 shows a bottom view of the whole shield FIGURE 3 shows a top view of the whole shield FIGURE 4 shows a left view of the whole shield FIGURE 5 shows a right view of the whole shield FIGURE 6 shows a back (rear) view of the whole shield FIGURE 7 shows a ftont view of the whole shield Bmkn_vd embedihment - continued As shown in Figure 1, the shield comprises a surface C which has at its wider end a curve towards the ground, creating a barrier between high-pressure water from the nozzle of the pressure-washer, and the surrounding area. The points E & F indicate likely positions at which a pressure-washer tube B, of various known designs, could be attached to the shield. The area indicated by Figure H could vary in design to incorporate an integral adjustable sleeve which receives the pressure-washer tube, thus, entering the pressurewasher shield to form a connection.
In addition, Figure I shows likely fixing points E & F where clamp or clip attachments of various known designs could be located in order to hold a pressure-washer tube to the underside of the shield. Fixings are of an adjustable type which enables the user to attach a pressure washer tube, which may vary in its diameter, to the shield.
As indicated in Figure 1 the underside of the shield, a strut J, or similar construction, may be incorporated into the shield to locate the pressure-washer tube, thus, positioning the angle of the tube relative to the shield.
As shown by widened skirting D, the shield could, in addition to containing water in a forward direction, contain water spray in a sideways direction.
4 Preferred embodiment - continued Figure A indicates how a typical bayonet type pressure washer coupling would be arranged in order to be used in connection with the pressure- washer shield.
It will be noted that there are many variations in detail possible on the shield, such as a variety of edging strips K, which could be attached to the leading edge of the shield without departing from the scope and spirit of this disclosure.

Claims (4)

Claims. 12/10100
1. A detachable protective shield for use with high pressure jet washing equipment of all types, having the ability to 'contain' a water jet, delivered at high pressure and to effectively 'smother' the jet to negate damage to the surrounding area, equipment or other articles, and injury to persons.
2. A protective shield, as claimed in Claim 1, being attachable/detach able on and from all known diameters of high pressure jet wash lances and being capable of adaptation, to be adjusted in distance from the jet nozzle to the 'skirf of the protective shield.
3. A protective shield, as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, which is designed to contain, within the shield, debris which the water jet, being at high pressure,,will dislodge, project or spray. Debris such as mud, stones, and all other potentially damaging/ harmful material.
4. A protective shield, as claimed in Claim 1, Claim 2 or Claim 3, being capable of allowing a high pressure water jet, delivered from a high pressure washer, to remove unwanted material such as moss, lichen, leaves, or surface dirt in a controlled pattern, dependent on the operator, 9 containing'the removed material within the shield, from surfaces such as patios, roofs, walls, paths and all other surfaces which retain unwanted material, for later disposal.
