Abstract

A support or holder for a crash helmet includes a back-plate 2 that is triangular in shape, has a hole in each corner so that it can be mounted to a wall using screws, a stem which is 'T' shaped to give extra strength and is at a 45{ angle with the back-plate, and a curved 'dome' 1 at the end of the stem 3 where the helmet is placed.

DESCRIPTION
L (D SA FE Helmet Storage Holder This invention relates to a holder specifically designed for storing a crash helmet when not in use. The holder can be fixed to any wall using raw-plugs and screws, therefore the helmet can be kept in a convenient place, above coat hooks in the home or on a garage wall for example.
Crash helmets can be very expensive, they are a compulsory safety measure and must be kept safe to ensure they are not damaged or dropped. The interior of a helmet is usually made from polystyrene covered with soft foam, hanging a helmet on a conventional coat hook would damage the interior of the helmet, this would be detrimental to the safety of the wearer.
The object of this invention is to provide a safe and convenient place to store a helmet when it is not in use.
Accordingly this invention provides a strong, solid holder incorporating a back-plate with 3 fixing holes, a strong stem with a 'dome' shape at the end to rest the helmet on.
Preferably the helmet holder would be manufactured using injection moulded plastic but could also be made from other materials such as wood or metal.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIGURE I shows a side view of the helmet holder FIGURE 2 shows a front view of the helmet holder FIGURE 3 shows a side view of the helmet holder and a diagram of a helmet placed on the holder FIGURE I shows the helmet holder comprises one solid piece, the top of the holder (1) is curved to prevent damage being caused to the inside of the helmet.
FIGURE 2 shows the back-plate (2) with the positioning of the holes for screws to be used when mounting the holder to a wall. This diagram also shows the stem (3) is'T' shaped, this gives the holder extra strength so that it will not break under constant use.
FIGURE 3 illustrates how the helmet is placed on the holder. The stem of the holder (3) is at a 45' angle with the wall (4) to which the holder is fixed, this allows the helmet to be placed onto the holder with the flat base of the helmet (5) level against the wall, but not touching the wall. A typical crash helmet is constructed of a Glass Fibre outer (6), and Polystyrene Resin inner (7) she] L The liner (soft padding) inside the helmet consists of Expanded Polystyrene (8).
2 DESCRIPTION CONTUNUED
The back-plate (FIGURE 2 (2)) is triangular, has a hole in each comer so that it can be mounted to a wall using raw-plugs and screws. The stem (FIGURE 2 (3)) is 'T' shaped to give extra strength and is at a 45' angle with the back-plate. At the top of the stem is the curved 'dome' (FIGURE 1 (1)) on which the helmet rests.

Claims (6)

1. A support for storing a crash helmet including a back-plate, a solid steam with a dome shaped end on which the helmet is placed.
2. A support as claimed in Claim I where the back-plate, which is triangular in shape, has a hole in each comer where fixings can be used to mount the support to a wall.
3. A support as claimed in Claim I or Claim 2 where the steam is 'T' shaped for extra strength and is at a 45' angle with the wall to which the support is mounted.
4. A support as claimed in Claim 1, Claim 2 or Claim 3 where the end of the steam is dome shaped where the helmet is placed onto the support.
5. A support as claimed in any preceding claim which is made from injection moulded plastics, metal or wood, or a combination of these materials.
6. A support substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

6. A support substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
1 Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS 1. A support for storing a crash helmet including a back-plate, a solid steam with a convex area at the end on which the helmet is placed.
4. A support as claimed in Claim 1, Claim 2 or Claim 3 where the end of the steam is a convex area which fits inside the concave shape of the helmet, the area being large enough so as to prevent any damage or indentation being caused to the inner materials of the helmet.
5. A support as claimed in any preceding claim which is made from injection moulded plastics, metal or wood, or a combination of these materials.
