Abstract
A pair of inwardly directed lips 2 of stiff material is provided at or near the open mouth of a bag to restrict access thereto when the bag is held in its normal carrying position and so deter pickpockets. The lips do not impede access when the bag is fully open.
Description
2354431 ANTI-PICKPOCKET BAG Pickpockets are opportunists and all bag
carrying women can fall easy prey to these efficient thieves. Most female shoppers use the type of bag where the internal contents are visible when carried normally. Even those bags fitted with zips are seldom fastened every time. They therefore afford the thief access as well as visual location of the bag's contents. These two factors are the prime causes of this type of crime. Every day hundreds of women, especially pensioners, suffer at the hands of these merciless opportunists. The resulting distress for victims and the wasted Police time could be avoided by this simple invention.
EXPLANATION (For DIAGRAM - see page 2)) Two safety lips (1) are fixed to the open end of the bag, one lip on each internal surface. They may or may not overlap and can be of various shapes (2), to accommodate the aesthetics o ' f a particular design. Any suitably stiff material can be used for their construction. When the bag is opened, acce ss is not adversely affected. However, when held normally in the carrying position (3) visibility of the bag's contents is -hidden and access is not possible without difficulty (which of course would alert the carrieer). Another major benefit is that there is no need to remember to fasten the bag after each opening.
1. The Anti-Pickpocket Bag comprises of two lips of suitably stiff material and of any design to suit the aesthetics oll a particular bag style.
2. The lips as mentioned in Claim 1 above can be attached to the opening end of the bag by.any suitable means.

- 3. The lips as mentioned in in Claims 1 and 2 above may or may not overlapwhen the bag is carried normally.4. The lips as claimed in Claims 1, 2 and 3 above prevent visual observation of the bag's contents and prevent access when the bag is held in the normal carrying position.
