Pressing-apparatus.-In a meat-press of the kind in which the meat is inserted between two trays 6, 11 located within a receptacle 1 having projections 5 engaged by latches carried by the upper tray 11. the latches 17, formed with teeth 19, are pivoted to the ends of a bar 14 spaced upwardly from the tray 11 and adapted to be used as a lifting handle. The bar 14 has legs 15 secured to the tray 11 by screws 16. The bottom and sides of the receptacle 1 are formed with apertures 3, 4 respectively, the former being of such size as to leave ledges 2 which support the ends of a. leaf-spring 8 secured to the lower tray 6.
