Abstract

A non-drip paintbrush device comprises a resilient member 13 which may be pulled over the base of the brush 11 so as to form a tight seal against the base of the brush and prevent drips of paint from travelling down the handle when the brush is in a vertical position with the bristles uppermost. The resilient member has a channel 14 for catching any drips which can then be returned to a can of paint when the brush is next dipped into the paint. The device can be made to fit various sizes of paint brush, and is intended to prevent drips of paint being dropped and subsequently reduce paint wastage.

Description

2353466 NON DRIP PA1NTBRUSH ATTACHMENT This invention relates to a device
which attaches securely to standard paintbrushes to reduce the likelihood of paint drips or runs when the paintbrush is in use.
When paintbrushes are used to paint areas above head height or indeed underneath objects for example ceilings, gutter boards or barge boards etc. it is always found that during painting, the paint or stain etc. will due to gravity run down the bristles and down over the handle ofthe paintbrush. This will lead to paint or stain etc. running down the hand or even arm of the painter and will inevitably lead to drips or runs onto objects or floor or walls below, making a difficult job of cleaning up later. Sometimes the above drips or runs are not found until it is too late and paint has already dried.
To overcome this problem encountered when painting, a non drip device is needed. The device is slid onto the base of the brush where the bristles are held. The device will stretch a little so that it can be pulled onto the brush and will hold tightly on the frame of the brush achieving a seal around the brush just below where the bristles are housed.
There is a drip reservoir/channel around this seal where any paint runs will be collected whilst painting, these said paint runs will then be deposited back into the paint can the next time the brush is dipped into the can to obtain more paint.
This means there are not any drips or runs unintentionally dropped on nearby walls or objects i.e. windows, cars, brickwork, paving etc. and thus reducing paint wastage to a minimum.
The invention will be further described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- FIG 1 Shows a front view ofthe device installed on a paintbrush- FIG 2 Shows a plan view of the device.
Referring to the drawings, the device 13 is strong and durable, but flexible enough to be pulled over the base of a paint brush 11.
The device 13 will be securely fixed to the base 11 because its flexible material will achieve a tight seal 15 between the device 13 and the paint brush base 11.
2 The device has a drip reservoir 14 which will contain any drips or runs of paint 17 when the paint brush 16 is in use.
These said drips or runs of paint 17 will then be deposited back into the paint can the next time the paint brush 16 is dipped into the paint can to obtain more paint.
The invention has the following effects: - There will not be any nuisance drips of paint unintentionally dropped on nearby objects, brickwork or floors etc.
Wasted paint would be kept to a miniinum, when the device is in use.
The device is easily pulled onto and indeed oiTthe paint brush when needed.
The device can be made to fit the various sizes that paint brushes are manufaed in.
The device is easily cleaned after use.
