Abstract

A Mobile Phone has a detachable Transmitter/Receiver 1, which enables the phone to be used conventionally, but by enabling the Transmitter/Receiver to be sited away from the users head ensures that harmful radiation is not concentrated around the users head. The transmitter/receiver may be coupled to the main body of the telephone by a retractable cable 4 or by a wireless connection (fig 3). The transmitter/receiver section may include a protective shield on the side nearest the user's body.

Description

2353433 SAFE CONVENIENT USE OF MOBILE PHONES This invention relates to the
relatively safe and convenient use of mobile phones.
Mobile phones are well known but suffer from the disadvantage that there is increasing concern and evidence that their prolonged use is harmful to health. This concern. is regarding the radiation emitted and received during use and the effect this has on the brain cells of the user.
An object of this invention is to provide a mobile phone that allows the safe and convenient use of the phone by siting the transmitter/receiver away from the head of the user.
According to the present invention there is provided at the base, or other suitable location, of the mobile phone a detachable section, which contains the transmitter/receiver and can be easily removed to enable the mobile phone to be used. Following use the transmitter/receiver can be reconnected to the phone using the retractable mechanism housed within the phone. The detachable section shall be provided with a shield on one or more sides to limit the exposure of the body to radiation whilst allowing the receipt and transmission of signals from the unprotected surface.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1 shows a front view of the mobile phone with the transmitter/receiver fixed in position. The transmitter/receiver will be fitted with a clip to attach to clothing or surfaces and a radiation shield on one side.
2 Figure 2 shows a front view of the mobile phone with the transmitter/receiver detached from the phone with the incoming and outgoing signals transmitted to and from the headset via the retractable cable.
Figure 3 shows a front view of the mobile phone with the transmitter/receiver detached from the phone but utilising a wireless connection whereby the signals from the mobile phone main transmitter are converted and then relayed to and from the headset via wireless connection using less harmful radiation.
Referring to the drawings the transmitter/receiver is located at the base of the mobile phone I and is detached and reattached by means of release mechanism 2. The transmitter/receiver is connected to the mobile phone by a wire 4, which when withdrawn or retracted is controlled and housed by a mechanism within the phone 3. This wire relays incoming and outgoing signals to and from the phones voice, hearing and other electronic/messaging functions via the transmitter /receiver for onward transmission or inward receiving from the Mobile Phone companies main transmission stations.
The variation on the wireless connection is shown in Figure 3 whereby the incoming signals from the main transmitting station are converted into less harmful radiation 5.
When a call is to be made or received the User can easily detach the Transmitter/Receiver and attach to their clothing or other surface by means of a clip allowing the phone handset to be used in the conventional manner but with harmful radiation remote from the Users head.
