Abstract
A fixing bracket 10 is U-shaped in cross-section and is affixed to the back of the lining material 11 by means of short screws 12 through adjustable slots 13. By fixing to the back face of the lining 11, the face of the lining material remains undamaged. The lining is then positioned within a door aperture. The positioning of the lining may require the bending inwards and outwards of the bracket 10. The lining is fixed within its opening by means of screws or nails (Fig 8,16) fixed through slots (Fig 8, 17). These slots can be used for the adjustment of the lining within the aperture.
Description
2353315 LINING FIXING BRACKET This invention relates to a Lining Fixing
Bracket.
Traditionally Door and other such linings have been secured to their openings by means of nails or screws driven directly through the face of the lining material. This method offixing also requires the use of wedges or packers to straighten and position the lining materials within its opening.
The lining once secured will also require the filling or plugging of the fixing holes prior to the application of a decorative finish. This traditional method offixing linings requires the considerable use of skill, time and materials in order to achieve the required secure fixing.
According to the present invention, there is provided a Lining Fixing Bracket with slotted adjustable fixing holes. The specific embodiment of this invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure I - Shows in perspective the Lining opening within a wall (brick, block or timber etc).
Figure 2 - Shows a Lining with its required fixing positions illustrated.
Figure 3 - Shows a Lining Fixing Bracket Figure 4 - Shows a Lining Fixing Bracket secured in position on the Lining material.
Figure 5 - Shows in elevation the method of positioning the Lining complete with fixing brackets within its opening.
Figure 6 - Shows in plan the method of positioning the Lining complete with fixing brackets within its opening.
Figure 7 - Shows a plan section through Lining, Bracket and Wall, illustrating the fixings.
Figure 8 - Shows the Plumbing1straighten and ultimate fixing of the Lining by means of the adjustable Lining bracket.
Referring to the Drawing, the Lining Fixing Bracket comprises of simple form 10 it is secured to the Lining 11 as shown in figure 3, by means of screws 12 driven through adjustable position slots 13. When the appropriate number of Brackets 10 have been affixed to the Lining 11 it may be positioned within its opening as shown in figures 5 and 6. This may require the opening of some of the Bracket 10 Legs 14. The Bracket 10 Legs 14 can be bent open or closed in the direction of arrows 15 to allow for positioning as in Figure 6. Once the LiningH complete with Brackets 10 is in the opening, it can be secured to the wall by means of screws 16 dtiven through slots 17 as shown in Figures 6 and 7.
By releasing screws 16 the Lining 11 can be adjustedfor plumb and straightness, movement of Lining 11 is allowed by the slots 17 in the directions of arrows 18. Once the Lining is in the final required position, screws 16 can be fully tightened to provide a secure fixing of the Lining 11 within the opening as shown in Figure 8.
After the application of the Wall Finish 19, the Lining Bracket 10 is hidden from view and requires no further attention.
