Abstract
A caravan foot positioned beneath a support comprises a plate having a ground engaging sole 15 and an upstanding wall 14 around its perimeter whereby the foot forms a dish-like receptacle for containing an insect repellant. The foot may have a moat 16 for holding the insect repellant. A bracket 17 may secure the foot to the support.
Description
2352699 CARAVANFOOT This invention concerns a caravan foot of the kind
(hereinafter termed "of the kind referred to") intended to be positioned beneath a comer support of a stationary caravan to spread the load over an extended area and prevent the support from penetrating the ground with adverse effect to the level or stability of the caravan.
A common problem is that the comer supports of a stationary caravan provide an all too convenient route for insects, most notably ants, into the caravan.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a caravan foot of the kind referred to which overcomes at least to some extent the problem aforesaid.
According to the invention, there is provided a caravan foot of the kind referred to comprising a plate having a ground engaging sole and an upstanding wall around its perimeter whereby the foot forms a dish-like receptacle for containing an insect repellant.
There may be a second inwardly spaced upstanding wall to define a moatlike channel for containing the insect repellant.
There may be bracket members extending upwardly from the plate to enable securement of the foot to the support.
The sole may have a configured surface to increase frictional engagement with the ground.
The insect repellant may be an insecticide or water.
The foot may be a moulding of plastics material.
The invention will be further apparent from the following description with reference to the several figures of the accompanying drawings, which show, by way of example only, one form of caravan foot embodying same.
Of the drawings:- Figure I shows a plan view of the foot; Figure 2 shows a view of the foot from below; Figure 3 shows a cross-section through the foot on the line III-111 of Figure 1; and Figure 4 shows a cross-section through the foot on the line IV-IV of Figure 1.
Referring now to the drawings, it will be seen that the caravan foot generally indicated at 10 comprises a generally square plate I I whose underside forms a ground engaging sole 12 which is configured to provide a plurality of studs 13 to give enhanced frictional engagement with the ground.
There is an upstanding wall 14 around the perimeter of the upperside of the plate 11 and a further upstanding wall 15 inwardly spaced from the wall 14 to define a moat-like channel 16.
A pair of spaced apertured brackets 17 project upwardly from the plate I I to enable the foot 10 to be secured to a comer support of a static caravan by a bolt or axle passing between the brackets A and through the support.
The foot is formed as a one-piece moulding of plastics material.
In use, the moat-like channel 16 is filled with an insecticide or water to form a barrier to insects such as ants seeking access to the caravan by way of the support from the ground.
It will be appreciated that it is not intended to limit the invention to the above example only, many variations, such as might readily occur to one skilled in the art, being possible, without departing from the scope thereof
Claims (5)
1. A caravan foot of the kind referred to comprising a plate having a ground engaging sole and an upstanding wall around its perimeter whereby the foot forms a dish like receptacle for containing an insect repellant.
2. A caravan foot according to claim 1 wherein there is a second inwardly spaced upstanding wall to define a moat-like channel for containing the insect repellant.
3. A caravan foot according to claim I or claim 2 having bracket members extending upwardly from the plate to enable securement of the foot to the support.
4. A caravan foot according to any preceding claim wherein the sole has a configured surface to increase frictional engagement with the ground.
