Abstract
The clothes peg has two identical pieces forming two pivots 1, 2 and associated gripping ends 3, 4 with interengaging teeth. Pressing together the teeth at one end 3 causes the pieces to move about the nearer pivot 1 to open the teeth at the other end; thus the peg can be operated at either end. A spring is provided at the central part of the peg.
Description
% 1 1; 2351521 DOUBLE ACTION CLOTHES PEG This invention relates to a
double action clothes peg.
Sprung clothes pegs operate from one end only. Squeezing one end of a peg together opens the opposite clamp end.
This invention allows the user of this double action clothes peg the choice using a clamp at either end of the peg. Either end can be squeezed together opening the clamp at the opposite end. The clamp ends use interlocking teeth which allows the necessary movement of travel.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the two accompanying pages of drawings 1/2 and 2/2.in which Figure 1 shows the double action peg in perspective.
Figure 2 & 3 show the peg opening in two different ways.
Figure 4 shows the peg in side view with the two sides connected together.
Figure 5 shows the plan view.
Figure 6 shows the two identical peg sides in opposite and equal.
Figure 7 Shows the interlocking teeth in the end view.
Refering to the drawings, the peg consists of two identical. sides 6 & 7 as shown in Fig 6. The two sides are located opposite and equal as shown in Fig 4. These two identical sides form the completed peg.
The design of the peg is to provide a double ended clamp. Both ends of the peg can be used to clamp washing.
Fig 2 shows the clamp end 3 closing and the clamp end 4 opening. Fig 3 shows the clamp end 4 closing and the clamp end 3 opening.
The peg uses two pivots 1 & 2 as shown in Fig 1. These two pivots 1 & 2 are also shown in Fig 2 and Fig 3. The two pivots allow the peg to rock or seperate when one end of the peg is squeezed.
Fig 2 shows the clamp end 3 squeezed together which rocks the peg on pivot 1 and allows pivot 2 to open. Fig 3 shows the opposite, when clamp end 4 is squeezed together.the peg rocks on pivot 2 which allows pivot 1 to open.
Each clamp end has interlocking teeth as shown in Fig 7. These teeth allow the peg the necessary movement of travel.as shown by the direction of the arrows 8 & 9 in Fig 7 when any end is squeezed together. A perspective view of the interlocking teeth is also shown in Fig 1, ends 3 & 4.
The position of the spring is shown in Fig 5, 5.
Claims (4)
1 A double action clothes peg comprising of two identical pieces W Fig 6, providing a clamp at either end of the peg, interlocking teeth and using two pivots.
2 A double action clothes peg as claimed in Claim 1, wherein both ends of the peg have the ability to clamp.
3 A double action clothes peg as claimed in Claim 1, wherein both end clamps 3&4 Fig 1, have interlocking teeth allowing necessary movement of travel at either end.
4 A double action clothes peg as claimed in Claim 1, wherein two pivots 1 &2 Fig 1 are provided allowing the peg to rock in both directions when squeezed together.
A double action clothes peg as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein there is provided a spring to provide tension between the two main pieces 6W Fig 6.
