Abstract

A transportable storage system comprises a draw-string bag 7 secured at the crossing of a pair of sheets 1, 2 having straps 3, 4 at their ends. In use the bag is filled and the sheets folded around it and drawn in by the straps 3, 4 to compress the contents. Further straps on the outsides of the sheets 1, 2 are used to attach the system to a vehicle. The system is formed from weather proof materials.

Description

2351437 TRANSPORTABLE STORAGE SYSTEM This invention relates to a Storage
system of the type that is made from compressible, weatherproof, durable material and contains an inner weatherproof bag. The storage system is compressible by securing devices and incorporates mounting devices to allow it to be fastened onto a suitable vehicle. A lateral storage bag permits separate storage of some materials.
Currently there is no dedicated storage system used for containment and transportation of camouflage materials to the field. These materials are usually carried unrestrained and can be exposed to potential damage or loss from the vehicle.
An object of this invention is to provide a storage system which allows for convenient storage, easy and rapid strapping to a vehicle, and simple packing and unpacking of the contained materials.
Accordingly, this invention provides a transportable storage system, which can be quickly and securely fixed to a vehicle by mounting straps. The contained materials are retained in a weatherproof inner bag and are easily accessed by a simple system of restraining straps and buckles.
Preferably, the storage system is made from cloth of a strong flexible nature, with the inner bag from a similar material and the buckles made from metal or other strong durable material.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIGURE I shows a plan view of the unfolded storage system.
FIGURE 2 shows the female end detail of the securing strap.
FIGURE 3 shows the male end detail of the securing strap.
FIGURE 4 shows the weatherproof inner bag detail.
FIGURE 5 shows the plan view of the folded storage system with lateral storage bags.
FIGURE 6 is a side view of the system showing the mounting straps and lateral storage bags.
2 FIGURE 7 shows the mounting strap detail.
As shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the system comprises a couple of sheets of material I and 2, fixed together in a cruciform shape. At one end of sheets, I and 2, lengths of strap 3 are fixed. At the free end of strap 3 the male end 5 of a locking device is attached. On the opposite ends of the material I and 2, a length of strap 4 is secured The female end 6 of a locking device is secured to the free end of strap 4. When the sheets of material are folded over and the male and female ends of the locking devices engaged, adjustment of strap 3 enables the stored materials to be securely restrained.
Figure 4 shows a weatherproof bag 7, which is to be fixed to the centre section of the cruciform. The contents of the bag are securely retained by means of a draw cord 8 with a simple locking mechanism 9.
Figure 5 shows a plan view of the folded storage system with lateral storage bags 10 and vehicle mounting straps 11, 12, 13 and 14.
Figures 6 and 7 show the vehicle mounting straps, which comprise a strip of material 11, attached to the bag 10 at one end, and a buckle 12 at the other end. Another strap 13 loops through the buckle 12 and is attached to a locking eye 14 at the other end. The vehicle mounting straps are tensioned to secure the storage system to fixing points on the vehicle.
Figure 6 also shows the detail of the lateral storage bags. The lateral storage bags 10 are formed by a sheet of material being fixed to sheet 2 along its length and sealed at one end to form a bag. A piece of material 15 is fixed at the open end of the bag so that, when closing this end, the contents are secured. The material Rap, 15, folds back over the bag and is retained in place by means of a strap 16 and buckle 17.
