Abstract
A golf ball caddy has cylindrical body 1, which is fitted internally with a helical sprung piston assembly 2 and 3 which elevates the balls to an ejection port 7. At the top of the body adjacent the ejection port is a thumb hole 5 which allows a small portion of the topmost ball to protrude, this combined with the spring pressure prevents the ball from being ejected until the spring pressure is displaced by applying counter pressure with the thumb at 5. The ball is then ejected into the hand, simultaneously subsequent balls are raised to the position of their former, thus allowing the process to be repeated. The piston is arrested at the top of its stroke by an internal flange 4 just below the ejected port. This allows the balls to be reloaded into the body, The caddy may have a clip for attaching it to a golf trolley or bag, means to hold golf tees, ball markers, or pencils, and a vacuum relief hole 8.
Description
1. 2350833 AUTOMATIC GOLF BALL CADDY This invention relates to an
automatic golf ball caddy.
Golf ball caddies are a well known item usually found attached to golf trolleys or bags, Their purposes to allow the golfer convenient access to favourite golf balls, as well as provision for tees. Ball markers & scoring pencil.
Golf ball caddies are however generally of inferior design and thus poorly suit the purpose for what they are intended.
According to the present invention there is provided an automatic golf ball caddie comprising of a cylindrical body adapted to house a helical sprung piston assembly which feeds the golf balls to an ejection port at the top of the caddie.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Fig. 1 shows in perspective the golf ball caddie with balls in position within the body.
Fig.2 Illustrates side elevation cross section, the golf ball caddies sprung piston mechanism fully retracted with balls loaded.
i 2- Referring to Fig.2 The golf ball caddie comprises a cylindrical body 1 within which is held a helical spring 2 which drives the piston 3 against the loaded balls 6 pushing them upwards to align them with ejection port 7.
By applying light pressure with the thumb to the portion of the ball protruding through thumb hole 5. The resulting force causes the first ball to be ejected firom port 7 into the palm of the hand. Simultaneously the next ball rises to align with the ejection port and the process may be repeated.
When the last ball is ejected the piston is arrested by an internal flange 4. At the base of the body is a small hole 8 to counter the effect of vacuum behind the piston.
To refill the caddie the balls are simply pushed back in the ejection port 7.
Figure 1 shows in perspective one possible means for attachment to golf trolley or bag in this example a spring clip 10.
Also shown 11 provisions for golf tees and ball markers.
