Abstract

A power tool in the form of an injection gun, suitable for example for use in pointing brickwork, comprises a hopper 14,15 leading to an interchangeable nozzle 12 through which a sand/cement or mortar mixture is dispensed by means of a series of rotating paddle blades 2 inter-spaced along a drive shaft (1, Fig 6) within the nozzle 12. The drive shaft is driven by a motor 24 via a belt or gears.

Description

This invention relates of a sand/cement injection gun. The building industry stems to have a power tool for every job. However, I noticed a couple of builders preparing a brick wall ready for pointing by means of chasing out the old mortar with an angle grinder. I believe to be about half an inch deep for new mortar.
A day or so later, they were filling in between the bricks with mortar, using a pointing trowel.
No disrespect to the builders, but it did seem slow and a lot of mortar dropped on the ground.
So this is how the idea began, a power tool that would inject mortar into the cavities between the bricks.
The machine will not mix the mortar, you use pre-mixed mortar, mixed in the normal way using a trowel to fill the hopper. When the machine is started the paddle-shaft rotates the paddle blades slice through the mortar and papule the mortar along to the end of the nozzle which then comes out the end of the nozzle rather like toothpaste from a tube. The rear of the machine is only a temporary set up, this was just a simple way to get the machine running. The future idea however is to have sealed roller bearings rather than bushes and the motor turned around so that the drive is at the rear of the hopper replace with gears rather than belt driven plus two speeds 500/1000 RPM. specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing 1.2. 3. drawing to scale in which: Figure 1. Shows the side view of the machine.
Figure 2. Shows a front view of a paddle blade and centre carrier.
