Abstract

The dobber comprises a plastics tube which is flattened and fitted with a sheepskin cover, with a handle attached thereto at an angle, thus providing a device with a cleaning head which is thin enough to apply cleaning fluid between overlapping sash windows.

Description

A. DESCRIPTION 1. General Description of the Product The product being considered, as conceived by lason Kennedy, is The Sash Window Dohber The coucept calls for the manufacture and distribution of a device to be used for chammg salst windows even when the upper section is pamted shin.
To accomplish this, The Sash Window Dobber would be configured as shown in the accompanying illustration (see Chapter Four, Portrayal). The concept is mtended to correct a shortconing encountered by both professional window clcaners and houscholders alike when attempting to clcan windows where the upper section of a sash-style window is stuck, which typically happens when somcone paints the window frame and simply applies the paint over the point where the frame is designed to slide up and down. When the paint dries, the result can be a The Sash Window Dobber: A handy device for use when cleaning sash windows, even when the upper section is painted shut. wtndow section that will not budge. This, the, can present problems when one attempts to dean the windows. If the exterior side of the window can be easi) y reached from outside, whether tire person executing the c) eaning task is standing on thé ground or pcrllaps on a step bdder. or li'lie or she chooses IL use an extension ladder to reach windows at higher levels. a smck upper section may not be a probtem. However, a more common approach to cxecuong iiiis rokuie task is to raise tire lower section of the window, sit on the silt facing back in toward file room, and then slide the lower section of the window down to where it is just above the thighs. This, then, leaves a section where the two windows overlap each other. If the upper section will not move, the only way to reach the area under the overlap is to slide a dobber up between the two window sections. However, conventional dobbers are often too truck to fit in this area, thus making it difficult for the person exccuting this task to do so m a quick and efficient manner the Sash Window Dobber would correct this shortcoming by providing the window elcaner, whether professional or houscholder, with a redesigned dobber that is substantially thmner than a conventional dobber. The device would consist of a plastic handle and tube covoed hy @ @ sheepskin with which soap suds are applied to the window. The handle would be 5"long and the tube would be 16" in length. However, with the sheepskin in place over the tube. the device would on) bc @ 1/4" thick at the widest point. Thus, then, would enable the persan performing this task to slide the dobber between the window sections, even where the space is quite restricted, and thus complete the window cleaning chore quickly and easily 2. Product Benefits The primary benefits The Sash Window Dobber would offer would offer would be convenience and increased work efficiency. The convenience benefit would be realised through the way in which this device would enable a professional window cleaner or houscholder to quickly and easily reach the area between two overlapped sash windows even when the upper window section will not move. For anyone who has experrenced the inconventience of attempting to perform this task with conventional dobbers, The Sash Window Dobber will be a welcomed addition to their collection of tools and equipment.
For the professional window cleaner the ultimate value of this device is not so much its convenience benefit as it is the improvement in work efficiency it is capable of delivering. For chose performing itils type @ of work, especially if they are self-employed professionals, time is money The quicker a job can be performed, the higher thc : Jollar return on the time invested.
The continua) goal for chose who are concerne about improving their efficiency, and consecluently their prolitability, is to accoml) more work in less time and, whenever possible, with less effort. The Sash Window Dobber will be one more form of contribution to ilil. objective for the conscientions tradesman.
