Abstract

The system can detect very small leaks on the seam welding of radiators, by detecting the sound and air escaping using a high quality microphone and amplifier. To achieve this sound waves, and air pressure of 11 bar are introduced into the radiator via two of the connector holes. The other two connection holes are temporarily sealed. By moving a microphone along the welding seam, any crack or hole will be detected because the microphone will pick up leaking sound waves.

Description

TITLE: LEAK DETECTION FOR SEAMED WELDED DOMESTIC RADIATORS DESCRIPTION: This system is designed to detect any leaks on the seamed welding of domestic heating radiators.
HOW IT WORKS: For domestic heating radiators.
Apply audible sound of specific frequencies and waveform and air pressure between 10-11 bar in to radiator via two of the four available pipe connections. Plug the other two connections temporarily.
Using a high quality audio microphone and specially designed amplifiers, any leak on the seam welding can be detected by placing the microphone near the weld at a appropriate distance and angle. If there is a fine crack on the seam welding air and hence sound will escape and will be detected from the microphone. The amplifiers will enhance the signal and raise the alarm for rejection. The whole process can be done automatically.
