Abstract
An emergency fire escape shoot 1 that can be mounted under fire escape windows or exits on domestic, factory or other suitable buildings. Housed within a metal box 2 wall mounted is a fire retardent inflatable shoot 1 activated by emergency button with "break for access" cover. Emergency button activates release valve 7 on compressed air bottle 3 which inflates the shoot which in turn pushes the magnetic front cover open and releases the hinged base allowing full inflation of the emergency shoot.
Description
HOME SAFETY
This invention relates to an emergency fire escape shoot which is secured to the outside of domestic, factory or other suitable properties.
The shoot being housed in a suitable metal box and triggered by an emergency button which releases a valve on the compressed air bottle, thereby inflating the shoot allowing rapid and safe escape for all occupants in the event of a fire or other emergency.
The emergency shoot will save lives as the occupants will not have to wait for assistance if they are trapped upstairs and will provide a safe exit for all including women, children, babies and handicapped alike. There currently does not appear to be a safe affordable product marketed for the general public that can be installed either by proffessionais or by Do It Yourself that can be fitted easily under a fire escape window or exit.
w2W ; A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIGURE 1 shows a side view of the shoot inflated;
FIGURE 2 shows a side view of the shoot and apparatus
contained in its housing.
Referring to the drawing Fig 1 emergency button 4 which will have a"break for access"cover can be located where convenient to the customer or on the box container 2. When activated the compressed air bottle Fig 2 (3) inflates the fire retardent shoot 1 and in so doing will release magnets 9 and hinge 8 thus opening the front and bottom of container box 2 allowing full inflation of the shoot. As shown in Fig 1 both base 1 and stabalising sides 5 will inflate.
Container box 2 will preferrably be made of aluminium with the back plate made of steel secured to the property by bolts 10. The shoot being secured to the container box 2 by secondary plate 6. Figure 2 (7) shows air valve gauge accessed for inspection by hinged lid 11 which also allow access for compressed air bottle change when required.
It is expected that the appartus can be used more than once by deflating shoot, rerolling into container and changing the compressed airbottle by following carefully written instructions.
Claims (5)
- CLAIMS 1 A container box of aluminium and steel construction with wall mountings, inspection lid on top and magnetic released front and hinged release base.
- 2. A container box as claimed in claim 1 with storage in the top for a compressed air bottle with inspection gauge and valve connecting to inflatable fire retardant shoot.
- 3. An Inflatable escape shoot constructed of fire retardent material comprising an inflatable base and inflatable stabalising sides housed in bottom compartment of container box as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 and secured by way of securing plate to container box as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2. This shoot being of variable length and width dependent on the number of storeys on the building to which it is fixed to.
- 4. Emergency button housed in breakable container and connecte to apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 or claim 3.
- 5. An emergency fire escape shoot substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawings.
