Abstract

The cover is made from a plastic material which covers most of the digits on the telephone keypad. The telephone is designed to hold the cover in place and accomodate a locking unit whilst the cover incorporates a lock to secure it to the telephone. The cover includes an opening(s) to allow the user access to those digits required to dial the emergency services.

DESCRIPTION
The Telephone Dialling Restriction Cover (TDRC) is a design which restricts the usage of a conventional telephone to all incoming calls and outgoing emergency calls only. It is ideal for use in an office or household where the telephone is frequently used without the owner's permission (possibly by teenagers) and the owner wishes to reduce his or her telephone charges.
The TDRC is a plate made of a plastic type material which covers most of the dialling digits on a telephone. The telephone, whether free standing or wall mounted, is designed to hold the TDRC in place and to accommodate the locking unit. This may be achieved by a hinge on, or suitable grooves along the side of the telephone wifich allows the TDRC to slot into place. Once in place, the TDRC has a lock at the top of the plate which secures it to the telephone by locking it with a key. (see figure 1) 1 The TDRC has an opening(s) on the face of the plate which, once in place, lines up with the relevant digit(s) on the telephone that will enable any user to dial the emergency services. For example, the opening for use in the United Kingdom would line-up with the number 9 digit on the telephone, thereby allowing any user to dial 999 in the case of an emergency. (see figure 1) The TDRC can be designed to fit any modified push button style of telephone.
When the TDRC is unlocked, the plate can be removed, then the telephone can be used as a conventional telephone.
1 TELEPHONE DIALLING RESTRICTION COVER CLAIMS
1) The Telephone Dialling Restriction Cover will restrict any unauthorised user of a modified telephone to receiving all incoming calls and making outgoing calls to the emergency services only. Consequently, no unauthorised chargeable calls can be made.
2) The Telephone Dialling Restriction Cover can be designed to fit any modified push button style of telephone.
3 The Telephone Dialling Restriction Cover can be easily removed by its owner for the telephone to be used in a conventional manner.
4) The Telephone Dialling Restriction Cover can replace the "Call Barring" services offered to subscribers by telephone line service providers.
5) The Telephone Dialling Restriction Cover can replace other line restricting equipment that functions between the telephone socket and the telephone itself -1 t7--
