Abstract

A casting mould, the mould comprising a first cross-sectional profile defined by a first pair of opposing side walls and a second pair of opposing side walls, one or both of one pair of the side walls being provided with a bulge extending away from the opposing side wall, the bulge comprising a first portion extending away from the opposing side wall and a second portion extending away from the opposing side wall, the first and second portions being connected by a third portion, at least part of the third portion extending towards the opposing side wall. The configuration of the first, second and third portions gives suitable heating of the upper portions, quiescent conditions to avoid inclusions and avoid metal build up around the pouring nozzle. Improved mould operation and quality of products arise.
